Madison, Wis. - Two members of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) honors, voted on by league coaches, announced Thursday afternoon by the league office.Â
Senior
Taylor Larson of
Hartland (Menomonee Falls H.S./Viterbo University (Wis.)) and freshman
Maddy Wilson of
Onalaska (H.S.) were named to the WIAC Honorable Mention All-Conference team. Â
Lason was also named to the five person WIAC All-Defensive Team.Â
Senior
Paige Geiser of
West Bloomfield, Mich. (H.S.) has been named to the All-WIAC Sportsmanship Team. The WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team is chosen for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. It includes one member from each school.
Taylor Larson, Senior, Libero
- This is the first time Larson has earned WIAC All-Conference honors as well as been named to the All-Defensive Team.
- She has played in all 32 matches including a team high 121 sets.Â
- So far this season, Larson has recorded 532 digs while averaging 4.40 per set. Her season total is the second most in the WIAC.
- Larson is third on the team in assists (104) while she is tied for fourth on the Eagles in service aces with 37.Â
- Earlier this season, Larson became just the 18th player in school history to surpass the 1,000 dig mark. Larson now has 1,239 digs in her three seasons with the Eagles which is 11th most all-time by an Eagle. Â
Maddy Wilson, Freshman, Middle Hitter
- The WIAC All-Conference honor comes after a very successful freshman season for the Eagles.Â
- Wilson has started all 32 matches this season including playing in 118 sets.Â
- So far this season, Wilson is third on the team in kills (197) and kills per set (1.67).Â
- She leads the Eagles with 96 total blocks which ranks fifth in the WIAC.Â
- Her 288 points (kills, service aces, solo blocks and assisted blocks) is the third most on the team .
Paige Geiser, Senior, Middle Hitter
- Geiser has played in 11 matches this season including making six starts for UWL.Â
- She has recorded 28 kills, 13 assisted blocks and 35.5 points.Â
- One of her best matches of the season came against Lake Forest College (Ill.) where she finished with seven kills, three assisted blocks, two digs and a service ace in UWL's 3-1 win.Â
- Geiser is on track to graduate in May with a degree in Writing and Rhetoric Emphasis with a minor in Criminal Justice.Â
