UWL Strives for Fifth Straight WIAC Championship; Eagles Ranked Sixth in National Poll

 The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's cross country team will look to earn its 14th league title, including fifth straight, at the 2025 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship (presented by Culver's) Saturday, November 1.  The 47th annual championship race is scheduled for 1 p.m. hosted by UW-Oshkosh at XC Ranch at Moore's Field of Dreams in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.  

UWL won its fourth consecutive league crown last year with 37 points while UW-Stout was second with 68. UW-Eau Claire placed third (79) followed by UW-Whitewater (94), UW-Oshkosh (94), UW-Platteville (179), UW-River Falls (189) and UW-Stevens Point (214). Logo
 
The Eagles' 13 league titles are second in conference history. UW-Oshkosh owns a conference-best 16 championships. 

UWL is ranked sixth and UW-Eau Claire 23rd in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III based on the October 22 rankings distributed by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).  

UWL returns three runners who have earned All-WIAC honors at the league championships. Mallory Reiser placed 11th last season while Brooklyn Luebke was 12th and Lucy Duchac 15th.

Derek Stanley, in his 14th season as UWL's head coach, has led the Eagles to seven WIAC Championships (2013-14, 2016, 2021-24) while finishing second on five occasions (2012, 2015, 2017-19).  A total of 81 All-WIAC cross country honors have been earned under Stanley, including 34 first team selections and 26 second team choices.

The top-seven runners in the 6,000-meter race will receive All-WIAC first team recognition, while runners placing eight through 14 earn All-WIAC second team accolades.  Individuals finishing 15 through 20 claim honorable mention laurels.

All eight WIAC teams will participate in the NCAA Division III North Regional on Saturday, November 15 at Whitetail Golf Course in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  The NCAA Division III Championships are set for Saturday, November 22 at Roger Milliken Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
