Golf Team Set for WIAC Championships

Madison, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse golf team is set to compete at the 2025 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship (Presented by Culver's) Friday, October 3 through Sunday, October 5. The 30th annual championship is scheduled for 54 holes at Reedsburg Country Club in Reedsburg, Wis.

THE BASICS
  • Location: Reedsburg Country Club - This marks the 10th consecutive year the Reedsburg Country Club has hosted the championship.
  • Tee Times: 11:00 a.m. shotgun start October 3, 8:30 a.m. off both sets of tees October 4-5
  • 2024 WIAC Champion: UW-Whitewater
    • UW-Whitewater (959) finished seven strokes ahead of UW-Stout (967) while UW-La Crosse was third with with a 976. 
  • What is at stake: The winning team will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championship that will be held May 19-22, 2026, at Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert, Calif.
INSIDE THE SCORECARD
  • Junior Haley Thoeny has been the top golfer this season as she is averaging a team best 80.5 this season. She has three top 10 finishes including winning the UW-Eau Claire Invitational where she shot a tournament total of 162. Thoeny finished seventh at last years WIAC Championships and was named WIAC Second Team All-Conference. 
  • Next for the Eagles this fall has been Allie McBryde who has averaged an 83.8 through eight rounds. McBryde's best round this season came at the DIII Classic when she shot a 77 in round two. At last years Championships, McBryde tied for 13th individually. 
  • Senior Allison Balduzzi has the teams top 18-hole score this season when she tied the schools record with a 72 at the DIII Classic and broke the 36-hole record with a 148. Through eight rounds, Balduzzi is averaging an 84.5. As a sophomore, Balduzzi finished eighth at the WIAC Championships while finishing tied for 21st at last years tournament. 
  • Also playing in all eight rounds this season for the Eagles has been Claire Kelbel, Kiya Bronston and Lauren Ambrookian. Kelbel is averaging an 84.8 while Bronston is right behind her at 84.9. Ambrookian is averaging an 88.1.
