Whitewater, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team, ranked second on the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Top-25 Poll, earned 26-12 victory over 16th-ranked UW-Whitewater Thursday night in Kachel Gymnasium.

The Eagles improve to 10-1 overall and 4-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Warhawks drop to 5-8 overall and 2-2 in the WIAC.

It UWL's fourth straight dual victory over UW-Whitewater and seventh in the last eight meetings overall.

With the victory Thursday, UWL improves to 86-9 all-time in WIAC duals under head coach

UW-Whitewater took a 9-0 lead after the opening two matches as fifth-ranked Jalen Dunson won by major decision (16-7) over UWL's 14th-ranked
Quintin Wolbert at 125-pounds. Fourth-ranked Dominik Mallinder followed with a technical fall (18-3) over
Cael Weinzweig at 133.

UWL won seven of the next eight matches to secure the dual victory.
Sam Lorenz, ranked 15th at 141-pounds, won by major decision (9-1) over Cale Stonitsch to cut the lead to 9-4. The Warhawks' Lucio Morgan extended the lead to 12-4 with a win by decision (5-4) over
Josh Cherba at 149.

The Eagles took the final six matches.
Tyler Goebel, ranked second in the NWCA at 165-pounds, cut the lead to 12-7 with a decision (4-1) over Luke Swan at 157-pounds.
Tate Flege's win by decision (4-0) over Jermaine Butler at 165-pounds cut the deficit to 12-10. Butler is ranked 11th at 157-pounds.

Eddie Simes gave UWL its first lead of the night with a decision (4-1) over Ryan Riser at 174-pounds to make it 13-12.
Leo Draveling followed with a decision (13-7) victory at 184-pounds over Gavin Kohel to extend the lead to 16-12.

Ben Kawczynski, ranked third at 197-pounds, earned a major decision (12-1) over Evan Danowski for a 20-12 lead. Top-ranked
