Mequon, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's cross country team opened its season capturing the Concordia University Wisconsin Ken Weidt Classic Saturday afternoon. The Eagles finished with 45 team points while Lawrence University (Wis.) was second with 51 and Concordia Wisconsin third with 57. A total of 14 teams competed.
Mallory Reiser led UWL with a seventh-place finish, completing the 6,000-meter course in 23:59.7. The Eagles'
Sierra Rabe was eighth (23:59.7) with
Gwen Hinz ninth (23:59.7),
Madelynn McIntyre 10th (23:59.7),
Brooklyn Luebke 11th (23:59.7) and
Katelyn Chadwick 12th (23:59.8).
UWL's
Madison Twarling was 18th (24:47.0) with
Emma Windingland 19th (24:47.0),
Julia Zalewski 20th (24:47.0),
Elizabeth Schwartz 21st (24:47.5) and Ella Paul 22nd (24:49.7).
Other top-30 finishers included
Eileen Zopel 24th (24:51.1), Jocelynn Aprill 25th (24:53.6),
Elena Kozich 26th (24:51.),
Kaleigh Burns 28th (24:57.5) and
Lily Higgins 29th (24:58.).
A total of 153 runners completed the race. Ainara Sainz De Rozas of Concordia Wisconsin won the individual title (22:40.0).
