Men's Track and Field Wins Eagle Open; DMR Breaks School Record

La Crosse, Wis.
- The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Men's Track and Field team captured the UWL Eagle Open Friday in The Fieldhouse.

THE BASICS
  • Results: UWL finished first with 187 points while UW-Stout was second with 151.5. Rounding out the top five was UW-Whitewater in third (77.5 points), Loras College (Iowa) fourth (53 points) and Wartburg College (Iowa) fifth (48 points). 
  • Location: UWL Fieldhouse, La Crosse, Wis.
  • Up next: The Eagles will travel to Whitewater, Wis. to compete in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships Friday, February 23 and Saturday February 24. 

THE RESULTS

   
FIELD EVENTS
  • Pole Vault - Ashton Moody was the top UWL finisher in the pole vault with a mark of 15-10 1/2 to finish third while JT Zell was fourth (15-10 1/2) and Andrew Tumminaro fifth (15-4 1/2).
  • Long Jump - UWL had three of the top five finishers in the long jump with Triton Schmidt finishing second (23-4.75). Nick Crary was fourth with a mark of 22-9 and William Cady fifth (22-1 3/4).
  • Triple Jump - Brady Kluge and Crary tied for second in the triple jump with a mark of 45-5.
  • Shot Put -Spencer Prats (49-3 3/4) and Ethan Welch (47-10) finished third and fourth in the shot put. 
  • Weight Throw - UWL had two of the top three throwers in the weight throw with Aiden Williams finishing second (62-4) and Logan Powers third (59-5 1/2)
    TRACK EVENTS 
  • Distance Medley Relay - The team of Parker Heintz, Addison Hill, Cael Schoemann and Michael Madoch combined to win the distance medley relay in a time of 9:50.64 to break the school record. The record surpasses the school's record set last season with a time of 9:54.29. 
  • 60-meter hurdles - Lukas Johnson was the top UWL finisher in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.26. 
  • 60-meter dash - Spencer Reichart finished fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.98 for the Eagles. 
  • 400-meter - UWL had the top four finishers in the 400-meter dash with Davis Wenthe finishing first with a time of 48.78. In second place was Chase Doornink (48.93) while Tyler Backes (49.82) was third and Jacob Hohman (49.85) was fourth. 
  • 800-meter - Dirk Lueck (1:55) finished second and Elias Ritzke (1:56) finished third in the 800-meter run. 
  • 200-meter - UWL had the top six finishers in the 200-meter dash as Ethan Turbeville won the event in a time of 21.97. Collin Conzemius finished second (21.98) while Caden Pearce was third (22.32), Paul Lough fourth (22.49) and Carson Kiehne fifth (22.49).
