Decorah, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's cross country team earned a dual victory at Luther College (Iowa) Friday afternoon.
The Eagles, ranked 14th on this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III Poll, finished with 20 points. The Norse totaled 42 points.
UWL had six of the top-seven finishers on Friday and 16 of the top-18.
Lily Higgins was the Eagles' top finisher, placing second overall with a time of 19:23.5 on the 5,000-meter course.
Ryana Mathis was third (19:29.3),
Elena Kozich fourth (19:32.3),
Eileen Zopel fifth (19:43.5),
Aleya Kliesner sixth (19:48.4) and
Ella Pahl seventh (19:50.4).
Taylor Bussiere finished ninth (19:52.0) for UWL while
Olivia Heilman was 10th (19:56.0),
Natalie Wees 11th (19:58.0),
Bryn Sato 12th (19:59.1),
Paige Damman 13th (19:59.9),
Elizabeth Liker 14th (20:10.8),
Hanna Martensen 15th (20:11.6) and
Jocelyn Aprill 16th (20:20.4).
The Eagles'
Ella Woodworth placed 19th (20:53.5),
Sydney Valiska 20th (20:54.5),
Jessica Immer 22nd (20:59.4) and
Mallory Olmstead 24th (21:22.6).
Luther's (Iowa) Alyssa Blankenship won the individual title (19:12.5). A total of 31 runners completed the race.
UWL returns to action Saturday, November 2 at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships. Action starts at 12 p.m. at Wisconsin River Golf Course in Stevens Point.
