2023 NCAA Division III Championships Website
Pittsford, N.Y. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team placed second at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Outdoor Championships Saturday at Polisseni Track and Field Complex. The championships were hosted by St. John Fisher University (N.Y.) and Visit Rochester.
UWL finished with 49.0 team points while Massachusetts Institute of Technology won the national title with 60.5 points. Rowan University (N.J.) and John Carroll University (Ohio) tied for third with 39.0 points.
Sam Blaskowski
It is the Eagles' 33rd top-10 finish at the outdoor championships, including 29th in the top-four. UWL has won an NCAA Division III record 15 outdoor titles in school history.
The Eagles won a pair of national titles on Saturday.
Sam Blaskowski took his second consecutive national crown in the 100-meter dash with an NCAA Division III record time of 10.13. He breaks his own record of 10.16 set at the UWL Qualifier on May 18.
UWL's 4x100-meter relay
UWL also captured the 4x100-meter relay on Saturday with a time of 39.96 as
Ryder Smith, Blaskowski,
Spencer Reichart and
Luke Schroeder won the fifth relay crown in school history. The Eagles also won the 4x100-meter relay in 2004, 2015, 2018, and 2021. Reichart was also on the winning relay in 2021 for his first career All-America honor.
Blaskowski earned his fourth All-America award of this year's championships with a second-place finish (20.67) in the 200-meter dash on Saturday. He placed seventh in Thursday's long jump to earn All-America honors. Blaskowski has now earned eight outdoor All-America honors in two seasons. Along with taking the national title in the 100-meter dash last season, he placed third in the long jump, fourth in the 200-meter dash and was a member of the second-place 4x100-meter relay.
Cael Schoemann earned his first career NCAA III All-America honor with a fifth-place finish (1:50.97) in the 800-meter run.
Adam Loenser also earned his first career NCAA III All-America accolade with a seventh-place finish (8:55.02) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Saturday.

The Eagles' 4x400-meter relay with
Chase Doornink,
Addison Hill,
Tyler Backes and
Caden Pearce earned All-America awards as it finished fourth (3:08.81). It is Hill's second career outdoor award and the third for Pearce. Both were members of the fourth-place 4x400-meter relay in 2021 while Pearce also finished seventh in the 400-meter dash in 2021.
In field event results on Saturday, UWL's
Nathan Andringa tied for 14th in the high jump (6-5 1/2) while
William Cady finished 17th in the triple jump (46-4 3/4).
On the track,
Ethan Gregg was disqualified in the 5,000-meter run.
