Box Score 2 Rochester, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse softball team earned a pair of wins Sunday at the Rochester Community & Technical College (RCTC) Dome, defeating St. Olaf College (Minn.) by the score of 6-1 and Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) by the score of 3-1. The Eagles improve to 3-1 on the season. Â
UWL took a 1-0 lead over St. Olaf (Minn.) in the bottom of the first inning on
Jordyn McCormack's home run. The Eagles extended their lead with four runs in the bottom of the second.
Abbey Bosch scored on a St. Olaf (Minn.) throwing error to make it 2-0.
Megan Scheidt's triple scored
Mariah Wick for a 3-0 lead followed by
Kyra Lard's RBI single to make it 4-0. McCormack's single later scored Lard with the fourth run of the inning.Â
Isabel Queenan scored an unearned run in the third inning as
Anna Jensen reached on a RBI bunt to give UWL a 6-0 advantage.Â
St. Olaf (Minn.) got on the board in the top of the fourth on Amelia Christenson's single knocking in Hannah Peschel.Â
Elise Weinzierl earned the win for UWL, pitching 5.0 innings, allowing five hits and one run with four strikeouts.
Remington Stark went 2.0 innings in relief, allowing one hit and three walks while striking out four. The Eagles had six hits in the game with McCormack finishing 2-for-3 with two RBI.Â
Roxanne Ring suffered the loss for St. Olaf (Minn.). She went 2.0 innings, allowing five hits and five runs (one earned) with one strikeout. Six different players recorded a hit for the Oles.
Against Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.), the Gusties took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first with Kayla Herda leading off with a triple and scoring on Caitlin Olafsson's RBI single. UWL took a 3-1 lead in the top of the fourth. Jensen's two-out single scored Queenan and
Jordan Schultz to give the Eagles a 2-1 advantage.
Nicole Zoellner followed with an RBI single to score Jensen who had advanced to second on an error on her RBI single.Â
Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) left two runners on base in the bottom of the fifth and one in the sixth.Â
Ally Eden earned the win, going 4.1 innings, allowing six hits, one run and one walk while striking out four.
Madi Lee went 1.2 innings with four strikeouts while Weinzierl picked up the save. She pitched one inning.Â
The Eagles totaled seven hits with Lard going 3-for-4. Jensen was 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.Â
Maizie Anderson took the loss for Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.), going 7.0 innings, allowing seven hits, three runs and three walks while striking out seven. The Gusties had six hits with Herda and Olafsson each finishing 2-for-4.
UWL returns to action Saturday, March 11 opening its spring trip in the Tucson (Ariz.) Invitational Games. The Eagles face RPI (N.Y.) at 10 a.m. and the University of Redlands (Calif.) at 12 p.m.Â
