Box Score Tucson, Ariz. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse softball team fell 5-2 to Concordia University Wisconsin Thursday afternoon. The Eagles game against Sul Ross State University (Texas) was rained out. UWL is now 7-6 on the season.
After a scoreless first inning, the Falcons scored a run when Emily Walters groundout scored Claudia Utz who had doubled to lead off the inning.
Kyra Lard tied the game up for the Eagles with a double that scored
Isabel Queenan.
The score remained tied 1-1 until the sixth inning when Lard led off with her second homerun of the season to give UWL a 2-1 lead. In the bottom half of the sixth inning, the Falcons would score four runs on four hits and an error. Utz drove in a run on a single for the Falcons while Megan Bloyer drove in three runs with her bases loaded double. Abby Bosch would single to lead of the seventh inning for the Eagles but that would be the only runner UWL would have.
Lard led the Eagles offensively going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored while Queenan finished 1-for-2 and a run scored.
Elise Weinzierl (3-4) suffered the loss for the Eagles as she allowed five runs on eight hits while striking out three.
Bloyer led the Falcons as she finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs while Utz was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Gina Followell (5-0) picked up the win on the mound for the Falcons as she allowed two runs on four hits while striking out ten in seven innings of work.
UWL will finish their spring break trip on Friday, March 17 with games against Dickinson College (Pa.) and Coe College (Iowa).
