Fast Start Leads Eagles to Nonconference Win Over Martin Luther

Lindsey Knuth leads Eagles with 17 points, 11 rebounds.
Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin La Crosse women's basketball team got off to a fast start and never looked back as they defeated Martin Luther College (Minn.) 78-42.

Next Up: UWL will host the Gundersen Hotel & Suites Thanksgiving Classic Saturday, November 25 and Sunday, November 26. The Eagles play Simpson College (Iowa) at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday while Nothland College (Wis.) plays UW-River Falls at 5 p.m. Then on Sunday, UWL plays Northland College (Wis.) at 1:00 p.m. and UW-River Falls play Simpson College (Iowa).  

FROM THE COURT HOW DID IT HAPPEN
  • Lauren Paulsen would get the Knights on the board first with a three-pointer but Meeker would tie it with a three of her own as the Eagles outscored the Knights 23-5 in the first quarter. Knuth scored eight of her game high 17 points in the opening period.
  • The Eagles scored the first 13 points of the second quarter as they held the Knights to seven points in the quarter. The Eagles would get three, three-pointers at one point to spark the early fun. 
  • UWL took its largest lead of the game at 72-29 with 8:49 left in the game. 
  • MLC did not get any closer than 32 (59-27) in the second half.

  • Knuth led the Eagles with her first double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds. 
  • Lauryn Milne finished six-of-10 from the floor and finished with 15 points.
  • Meeker and Katie Waukau each added 10 points for the Eagles. 
  • As a team, UWL shot 30-for-78 (38.5%) from the floor including 10-of-37 (27.0%) from the three point line.
