1981 Women’s Basketball
The 1981 Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) Division III Basketball Championship marked a historic moment for UW-La Crosse. Hosted on their own campus in La Crosse, the tournament featured 16 teams competing for the national title. Coached by Mary Hansen, UW-La Crosse defeated Mount Mercy College (Iowa) in the championship game, 79–71, to capture the Roonies' first AIAW Division III title.
Jackie Christensen earned all-conference first team honors while Darcia Davies, Lorraine Tetzlaff and Tamie Tills were second team selections.
