Minneapolis, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's cross country team placed third at the Roy Griak Invitational Friday afternoon at Les Bolstad Golf Course. The Eagles finished with a team score of 114 points while the University of Minnesota-Duluth won the team title with 65. Winona State University (Minn.) was second with 88. Michigan Tech University placed fourth (132) and the University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) fifth (159). A total of 30 teams competed in the race.
The University of Mary (N.D.) was sixth (177) followed by Minnesota State University Mankato (178), Indiana Wesleyan University (222), Northern Michigan University (285) and Central College, Iowa (295) to round-out the top-10.
UWL's
Maddie Hannan was the team's top-finisher, placing 15th overall while completing the 6,000-meter course in 23:05.6. The Eagles'
Maddy Vantassel was 18th (23:16.4) while
Katelyn Chadwick placed 20th (23:17.8).
Three other runners placed in the top-37 for the Eagles, including
Jenna Lovejoy finishing 28th (23:35.0),
Julia Anderson 33rd (23:44.8) and
Madelynn McIntyre 37th (23:49.3).
