Mequon, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's cross country team opened its 2022 season with a first-place finish at the Concordia University Wisconsin Ken Weidt Classic Saturday. The Eagles finished with 25 points while UW-Whitewater was second with 38.
In third place was Concordia with 87 points followed by Concordia University Chicago (Ill.) with 127 and Moody Bible Institute (Ill.) with 143 points. In sixth place was Lakeland (Wis.) with 163 points and Alverno (Wis.) was seventh with 198 points.
"Today was a designed workout for most of the team," said UWL head coach Derek Stanley. "We were emphasizing pack running, communication and encouragement. Although the temperature was on the warm side today, our teams executed the strategy well. This meet was a good step for building our future racing and our family atmosphere."
Top finisher for UWL was
Kylie Trousil in third place with a time of 23:57.2. Next for the Eagles was
