Box Score Madison, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse lacrosse team earned a 22-9 win at Edgewood College (Wis.) Wednesday night at Reddan Park. UWL improves to 7-7 on the season while Edgewood (Wis.) drops to 6-9.
It is UWL's second win over Edgewood (Wis.) this season after a 19-5 home win March 23.Â
Edgewood (Wis.) scored the first two goals of the game Wednesday before UWL ran off seven straight. Hannah Gronwoski's goal with 10:35 left in the first quarter cut the lead to 2-1 while
Megan Feeney's goal with 9:20 remaining off a
Kiersten Pelletier assist tied the game.
Britta Nelson (8:37 left, 6:59) and
Nicole Jernander (6:36, 5:54) each scored two straight goals to give UWL a 6-2 advantage. Gronowski had a pair of assists. Feeney made it 7-2 with an unassisted goal with 5:03 left.Â
Megan Feeney had six goals.
Natalie Skaife scored two straight goals for Edgewood (Wis.) to cut it to 7-4, but
Lauren Schwartz' goal with 2:29 remaining gave UWL a 8-4 lead after the first quarter.Â
Edgewood (Wis.) recorded the first goal of the second quarter, but UWL went on a 9-0 run to lead 17-5 at halftime. Feeney, Nelson and Schwartz each had two goals in the run. Gronowski, Jernander and
Hanna Harshman also scored for the Eagles.Â
UWL led, 20-6, after the third quarter with goals from
Madison Buttweiler, Feeney and
Abigail Franta. Jernander and Feeney scored in the fourth quarter.Â
Britta Nelson finished with four goals.
UWL finished with 34 shots, including 26 on goal. Feeney and Jernander each had seven shots with Feeney recording six goals and one assist while Jernander had four goals. Nelson also scored four times while Schwartz had three goals. Gronowski finished with two goals and five assists. Eight different players scored for the Eagles.Â
Emily Hageman picked up the win, finishing with nine saves. She had a team-high four ground balls.Â
Edgewood (Wis.) totaled 26 shots with 18 on goal. Samantha Velander had 12 shots for the Eagles. Skaife had a team-leading four goals.Â
Morgan Koss suffered the loss, recording four saves. Mackenzie Fruit had five ground balls.
