Box Score 2 Oshkosh, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse softball team swept a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) doubleheader over 11th-ranked UW-Oshkosh Tuesday, winning the first game, 5-4, and game two, 10-9 in 9 innings, at UWO Softball Park. The Eagles improve to 17-8 overall and 5-1 in WIAC while the Titans fall to 20-6 overall and 6-2 in conference play. UW-Oshkosh is ranked 11th in this week's National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Poll.
In the first game, the Titans scored first as they took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Sophie Wery drove in the two runs for the Titans with a home run. The Eagles evened the score in the top of the fourth inning on a
Hailey Jibben two-run home run. It was Jibben's second home run of the season. UW-Oshkosh regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth as Hannah Ritter drove in two runs with a single.
In the top of the sixth inning, UWL rallied for three runs on three hits to take a 5-4 lead.
Kyra Lard led-off with a double and scored on a single by
Jordyn McCormack. McCormack advanced to third on a double by
Kendra Leis to put runners on second and third with no outs. Jibben then drove McCormack in with a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 4-4 with Leis moving to third.
Madi O'Brien's ground out scored Leis with the eventual game-winning run.
Relief pitcher
Remington Stark struck out four of the final six batters she faced to seal the win for the Eagles. Stark (5-2) picked up the win, allowing one hit over 3.0 innings while striking out six.
Elise Weinzierl pitched the first 4.0 innings for the Eagles, allowing four runs on nine hits while striking out five. Maddie Fink (8-4) suffered the loss for UW-Oshkosh, allowing five runs on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts.
Leis led the Eagles' offense going 2-for-3 with a run scored while Jibben was 1-for-2 with a run scored and RBI. Ritter led the Titans, finishing 4-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored while Sydney Rau was 2-for-3 with one run.

In the nightcap, UWL scored four runs in the top of the first inning. Lard opened the game with a single and advanced to third on a double by McCormack. Leis then hit her second double of the day and eighth of the season to drive in both Lard and McCormack for a 2-0 lead. After a pair of outs were recorded,
Hannah Lalk reached on a hit-by-pitch.
Ellie Yaeger loaded the bases with a single and
Emily Knight's single drive in both Lalk and Leis to make it 4-0.
UW-Oshkosh would get on the board in the third inning, scoring five runs on four hits and four walks to take a 5-4 lead. Morgan Rau, Emily Cliver, Ana Iliopoulos and Ritter all drove in runs for the Titans.
After Knight singled and
Megan Scheidt reached on an error, Lard hit her second double of the day and 10th of the season to score Knight and tie the game at 5-5 in the top of the fourth. UW-Oshkosh took the lead back in the fifth inning with three runs for an 8-5 advantage, including a two-run double by Iliopoulos.
With two outs and one on, UWL put together another sixth inning rally to score four runs on five hits. Lard hit her third double of the day to score
Kate O'Brien and scored on a double by McCormack. Leis then tripled to score McCormack before Jibben singled to score Leis and give the Eagles a 9-8 lead. The Titans tied the game in the bottom of the seventh when Ritter drove in a run on a fielder's choice.
Neither team was able to score in the eighth inning as the game entered the ninth inning tied 9-9. With two outs in the top of the ninth inning, Lalk hit her first home run to give UWL a 10-9 lead. Weinzierl allowed just a single in the bottom half of the ninth but induced three ground outs to end the game.
Weinzierl (7-2) pitched the final 3.1 innings to earn the win for the Eagles, allowing one run on three hits while striking out four. Mia Crotty (4-2) suffered the loss for UW-Oshkosh as she came on in relief allowing two runs on four hits while striking out two in 3.1 innings.
UWL finished with 15 hits, tying the single-game season high set against William Paterson on March 18. Lard finished 4-for-5 with two RBI and two runs while Leis was 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. Also recording multi-hit games for UWL was Knight who finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run while McCormack went 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.
Abby Garceau led UW-Oshkosh's offense, finishing 4-for-6 with a run scored and an RBI. Ritter, Cliver and Zoe Malone each had two hits for the Titans as they finished with 12 hits overall.
UWL returns to action Saturday, April 23 at UW-Stout with the first game of the doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
