NCAA Division III Indoor Championships Website
Winston-Salem, N.C. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track and field team finished second at the 2022 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Indoor Championships Saturday night at JDL Fast Track. The Eagles finished with 44.0 team points. Loras College (Iowa) captured the national title with 59.0 points while Ithaca College (N.Y.) was third with 40.0 and Johns Hopkins University (Md.) fourth with 33.0.
Washington University-St. Louis (Mo.) placed fifth with 25.0 points, followed by Wartburg College (Iowa) sixth (23.0), SUNY Geneseo seventh (22.0), Tufts University (Mass.) eighth (20.0) and Nebraska Wesleyan University and UW-Stout tied for ninth (18.0). A total of 62 teams scored points.
It is UWL's sixth (1993, 1999, 2001, 2009, 2014, 2022) runner-up finish at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships and first since 2014. The Eagles captured their first NCAA Division III Indoor title in 2015 in Winston-Salem.
Skye Digman set a school record in winning the shot put title Saturday.
UWL has crowned 12 individual or relay champions and 229 NCAA III Indoor All-America honors in school history.
The Eagles'
Skye Digman won the NCAA III title in the shot put on Saturday with a school record throw of 50-2 3/4. She broke the record of 49-7 set by Cindy Lensmire in 1984. Digman is the second thrower in school history to capture the national title in the shot put, joining
Jessie Coonen who won the title in 1993. Digman earned her second career NCAA III Indoor All-America award in the event after finishing fifth in 2019.
It was UWL's second individual national crown in this year's championships after
Hannah Zenkovich took the pentathlon on Friday with a school record 3,774 points. It marks the first time in school history UWL won two individual NCAA Division III titles at the same championships. It is the third time in school history the Eagles have won two event championships in the same year. In 1993, Coonen won the shot put while

Amy Johnson and
Kari Nethery captured the 4x400-meter relay. At the 2015 NCAA III Championships,
Bria Halama took the triple jump crown with
Claire Gordee,
Kaitlyn Francour, Halama and
Shannon Klein winning the 4x400-meter relay.
UWL's
Samantha Barrett and
Olivia Owens also captured individual NCAA III All-America honors in Saturday's field events. Barrett placed sixth (39-1 3/4) in the triple jump while Owens finished seventh (5-4 1/2) in the high jump. It is the first career indoor All-America honors for both.
On the track, the Eagles'
Emma Lawrence finished fourth (8.71) in the 60-meter hurdles Saturday to claim All-America honors. UWL's 4x400-meter relay earned All-America accolades with a fourth-place finish (3:52.32) with the team of
Amber Johnson,
Mara Schroeder,
Katie Banie and Lawrence. It is the first career awards for all four.
Other field event finishers on Saturday included
Miah Keller placing 12th (38-0) in the triple jump while
Macie Todd tied for 16th (5-1 1/4) in the high jump.
