Eau Claire, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team, third in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Dual Team Rankings, earned a 28-10 win at ninth-ranked UW-Eau Claire Wednesday night in the McPhee Physical Education Center. The Eagles improve to 8-0 overall and 2-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Blugolds drop to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

With the win, UWL earned its 600th dual victory in school history. The Eagles are now 600-292-12 (.670).
UW-Eau Claire took a 7-0 lead with wins in the first two matches. Carter Schultz won by decision (4-2) over
Brandon Murphy at 125-pounds while ninth-ranked Tyler Fleetwood won by major decision (12-0) over
Cael Weinzweig at 133. Fleetwood is ranked ninth in the NWCA.

Sam Lorenz cut the lead to 7-5 with a win by technical fall (16-1, 5:00) over Ty Peterson at 141-pounds. In a top-15 match-up at 149-pounds, seventh-ranked
Tyler Goebel won by decision (6-3) over 15th-ranked Zach Sato to give the Eagles a 8-7 lead.
Third-ranked
Nolan Hertel earned a technical fall (18-3, 7:00) over Colton Sund at 157-pounds followed by
Noah Leisgang's decision (4-3) over 10th-ranked Tristan Massie at 165-pounds to give UWL a 16-7 lead.
Seth Brossard, ranked second in the country, won by fall (2:21) over 13th-ranked Jared Stricker at 174-pounds. UW-Eau Claire's Neil Schoenfelder, ranked 10th, won by decision (3-0) over UWL's
Kalyn Jahn at 184-pounds to cut the lead to 25-7.
In another match featuring a pair of ranked wrestlers, UWL's fifth-ranked
Ben Kawczynski won by decision (8-4) over 11th-ranked Chase Melton at 197-pounds. The Eagles'
Michael Douglas, ranked ninth in the nation, completed the dual with a sudden victory (3-1) over Jackson Schichel at 285-pounds.
UWL returns to action Thursday, December 29 at the Citrus Invite in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
