UWL Places Third at National Preview Meet; Hannan Eighth Overall

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's cross country team placed third out of 36 teams at the Olivet College (Minn.) National Preview Meet Saturday at Forest Akers Golf Course. The Eagles finished with 118 team points. The University of Chicago (Ill.) won the team title with 59 points with Massachusetts Institute of Technology second with 106. 

George Fox University (Ore.) placed fourth (137) and Calvin College (Mich.) fifth (201). St. Lawrence University, N.Y. was sixth (242) followed by John Carroll University, Ohio (243), Loras College, Iowa (244), Ohio Northern University (307) and Trine University, Ind. (351) to round-out the top-10.

The Eagles' Maddie Hannan placed eighth overall with a time of 22:23.6 on the 6,000-meter course. Katelyn Chadwick finished 14th (22:31.9) with Maddy Vantassel 17th (22:34.0) and Julia Anderson 25th (22:41.8). 

UWL's Jenna Lovejoy finished 54th (23:19.4), Madelynn McIntyre 64th (23:29.3), Kimberly Carviou 70th (23:34.2), Mackenzie Hill 82nd (24:16.3) and Jessica Wilson 131st (24:24.4). 

Kassie Parker of Loras (Iowa) took the individual title (20:31.2). A total of 316 runners completed the race.  

In the open race Saturday, UWL's Bryn Sato was first overall (23:59.3) with Lauren Beauchaine second (24:02.3) and Kylie Trousil third (24:16.9). Lucy Duchac finished fifth (24:24.2) followed by Sierra Rabe sixth (24:32.5), Brooklyn Luebke seventh (24:33.3), Karlie Meyer 10th (24:41.9), Gwen Hinz 11th (24:44.1), Ella Pahl 12th (24:59.7), Andrea Butz 13th (25:06.4) and Jocelyn Aprill 14th (25:09.1). 

Jessica Immer placed 18th (25:17.7), Bella Simmons 19th (25:19.3), Hannah Bero 23rd (25:29.6), Grace Bisswurm 34th (26:08.2), Brooklyn Radtke 51st (26:48.0) and Anna Meilahn 72nd (27:38.7). A total of 108 runners competed.

UWL won the open race with 17 team points.

The NCAA Division III Championships will be held at Forest Akers Golf Course on Saturday, November 19. UWL returns to action Saturday, October 15 hosting the Tori Neubauer Invitational at 11:20 a.m. at Maple Grove Venues, LLC.
