La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team fell to 6-3 overall and 0-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) with a 29-14 loss to UW-Oshkosh Friday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles are ranked third and UW-Oshkosh 15th in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Dual Rankings. UW-Oshkosh improves to 12-1 overall and 3-1 in the WIAC.

The Titans snapped a 30-dual losing streak to the Eagles with Friday's victory. UW-Oshkosh earned its first dual win over UWL since the 1989-90 season.
UW-Oshkosh took a 6-0 lead with a pair wins by decision with Luc Valdez defeating
Brandon Murphy at 125-pounds (1-0) and Denis Murphy earning the win over 11th-ranked
Sawyer Sarbacker at 133 (3-2).
Tyler Shackle would put the Eagles on the board with a victory by fall (4:24) over AJ Schoenfuss at 141-pounds, tying the match at 6-6. The Titans responded with a victory by fall of their own with Bryce Janikowski defeating
Jake Mandt 149-pounds (2:15) for a 12-6 lead. UW-Oshkosh was called for an unsportsmanlike penalty for a one-point team deduction to make it 11-6.
UWL's
Nolan Hertel, ranked fourth in the NWCA, and
Seth Brossard, ranked fifth, recorded back-to-back major decisions to give the Eagles a 14-11 lead. Hertel defeated Nate Stokhaug at 157-pounds (10-1) while Brossard beat Preston Morgan at 165-pounds (17-5).

The Titans tied the dual at 14-14 after Muzi Sitshela won by decision (5-1) over
Luke Clark at 174-pounds. Patrick Curran gave UW-Oshkosh a 20-14 lead with a win by fall (3:52) over 10th-ranked Kayln Jahn at 184-pounds.
In a top-five matchup at 197-pounds, UW-Oshkosh's top-ranked Beau Yineman won by fall (3:28) over fifth-ranked
Isaac Lahr to make it 26-14. In another ranked matchup, the Titans' fourth-ranked Jordan Lemcke won by decision (2-0) over the Eagles' sixth-ranked
Ben Kawczynski at 285-pounds.
UWL returns to the mat Sunday, January 30, hosting eighth-ranked Augsburg University (Minn.) at 2 p.m. in Mitchell Hall.
