Box Score Waverly, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's tennis team opened its 2021 season with a 6-3 victory at Wartburg College (Iowa) Sunday afternoon in Hoover Fieldhouse.  The Knights drop to 3-3 on the season.
The Eagles won two of three doubles matches Sunday as

Alex Moore defeated Cade Davis/Nile Petersen at No. 2 doubles (8-4) and 
Joshua Williams/Grante Wolfe beat Hunter Gerhardt/Jared Hefel at No. 3 (8-6).  Wartburg (Iowa) earned the win at No. 1 doubles with Lucas Huffman/Jackson Eells defeated UWL's 
Charlie Parish/
Riley Peterson (8-4). 
In singles play, UWL won four of six matches.  Moore defeated Davis at No. 3 (6-2, 6-4) while 
Cole Contardi defeated Petersen at No. 4 (6-1, 6-2).  The Eagles' 
Sam Diedrich defeated Gerhardt at No. 5 singles (6-1, 6-1) and Williams defeated Hefel at No. 6 (6-0, 6-2). 
Wartburg (Iowa) earned the victories at No. 1 and 2 singles. Huffman defeated Alt at No. 1 (6-3, 7-5) while Eells defeated Peterson at No. 2 (6-4, 1-6, 1-0). 
UWL returns to action Saturday, February 27 with two matches in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  The Eagles face Simpson College (Iowa) at 1 p.m. and host Coe College (Iowa) at 4 p.m.
