Brown Deer, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team leads after the first day of action at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships (Presented by Culver's) Thursday night at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center. The Eagles, striving for their ninth straight league title, is second with 189.5 points while UW-Eau Claire leads with 197.5.
UW-Whitewater is in third-place (178.0) followed by UW-Stevens Point (138.0) and UW-Oshkosh (90.0).
UWL took the WIAC title in the 400-yard medley relay on Thursday with Lilly Larsen, Maria Vaudreuil, Ellie Szczupakiewicz and Mikala Leppla (3:53.90). The Eagles' 200 yard freestyle relay of Emily Boettger, Jaime Kloehn, Larsen and Leppla finished second on Thursday (1:37.21).Â
In the 200 I.M. Kaylie Svacina captured first (2:11.30), Sarina Le fifth (2:13.50) and Amanda Wciorka third (2:13.98)Â
In other individual event finals on Thursday, UWL had three of the top-eight finishes in the 50-yard freestyle as Leppla took second (24.17), Larsen fourth (24.73), and Boettger eighth (25.00).
