Platteville, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team won its 29th consecutive Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Championship (presented by Culver's) Saturday night at UW-Platteville's Track & Field Complex.
The Eagles finished with 184.0 team points while UW-Oshkosh was second with 138.0 and UW-Eau Claire third with 114.0. UW-Whitewater was fourth (104.5) followed by UW-Platteville (94.5), UW-Stevens Point (94.0), UW-Stout (88.0) and UW-River Falls (2.0).
It is UWL's league record 55th outdoor title.
Charlie Handrick captured the 400-meter hurdles (53.04) on Saturday while
Will Seeser was second (53.37). UWL had a pair of relays place second as
Troy DeBruin,
Joel Shelp,
Justin Kotarak and
James Hoesley were second in the 4x100-meter relay (41.27) and Handrick, Seeser,
Joshua Desorcy and
Jake Sullivan were second in the 4x400-meter relay (3:14.06).
UWL had four of the top-nine finishers in the 200-meter dash with
Seth Holden third (21.61), Hoesley fifth (21.69), DeBruin sixth (21.78) and
Collin Meyer ninth (22.07). Holden was also third (10.68) in the 100-meter dash with DeBruin fifth (10.71) and Hoesley sixth (10.75).
Desorcy was third (48.44), Sullivan fifth (48.73) and Meyer sixth (48.74) in the 400-meter dash while
Brian Hansford placed sixth (1:54.98) in the 800-meter run.
Dillon Murman finished fifth (15.13) in the 110-meter hurdles.
The Eagles'
Zachary Shoemaker-Allen was fourth (3:56.18), Mitchell Maegard sixth (3:56.39) and
Joshua Schraeder eighth (3:57.04) in the 1,500-meter run on Saturday while
Thomas Schultz finished fourth (15:04.00) and
Chris Pahnke ninth (15:24.44) in the 5,000-meter run.
UWL's
Ben Jones finished seventh (5,817 points) and Dominic Smith 13th (5,206) in the decathlon on Saturday. The event concluded with the 110-meter hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw and 1,500-meter run on Saturday. Friday's events included the 100-meter dash, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400-meter dash.
In Saturday's field events,
Kyle Pulvermacher placed fifth in the shot put (51-5) and seventh in the discus throw (152-4).
