Day 1 Results
Platteville, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team leads after the first day of action at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships (presented by Culver's) Friday night at UW-Platteville's Track & Field Complex.
The Eagles have 82.00 team points while UW-Stout is second with 58.00 and UW-Stevens Point third with 32.00. UW-Whitewater is in fourth-place (29.00) followed by UW-Oshkosh (25.00), UW-Eau Claire (5.00) and UW-Platteville (3.00).
UWL is striving for its 29th consecutive league title and 55th in school history.
UWL won four individual conference titles on Friday, including three in the field events.
Andrew Jarrett captured the hammer throw (203-3),
Justin Donkin the javelin throw (184-9) and
Samuel Sadowski the long jump (23-11). On the track,
Zachary Shoemaker-Allen won the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:16.19).
Donkin was also second (184-11) in the hammer throw with
Christian Morzinski fifth (175-11).
Cameron Sorenson finished fourth (22-7) in the long jump with
Alec Morrison eighth (161-10) in the javelin throw.
In the pole vault, the Eagles'
Kaleb Schuster was third (15-7 3/4) while
Lucas McCormick finished fifth (15-1 3/4) and
Tommy Knoche eighth (14-8).
Tyler Nault finished second (30:44.59) and
Thomas Schultz fourth (30:47.31) in the 10,000-meter run on Friday.
After five events in the decathlon, UWL's
Ben Jones is in sixth-place (3,281 points) while Dominic Smith is in 15th (2,697). Friday's events included the 100-meter dash, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400-meter dash. The event concludes Saturday with the 110-meter hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw and 1,500-meter run.
In preliminary track action,
Seth Holden (10.71),
Troy DeBruin (10.79) and
James Hoesley (10.91) advanced to the 100-meter dash final on Saturday while Holden (21.56), Hoesley (21.89),
Collin Meyer (21.99) and DeBruin (22.05) qualified in the 200-meter dash. Meyer (46.69),
Joshua Desorcy (48.56) and
Jake Sullivan (48.69) advanced in the 400-meter dash while
Brian Hansford (1:53.63) advanced in the 800-meter run.
Dillon Murman (15.10) qualified for Saturday's 110-meter hurdles final while
Charlie Handrick (54.20) and
Will Seeser (54.77) advanced in the 400-meter hurdles.
