Geneva, Ohio - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team completed third and final day action at the 2019 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships Saturday at SPIRE Institute. The Eagles finished 18th overall with 15.0 team points. UW-Eau Claire won the national title with 68.0 points while Massachusetts Institute of Technology was second with 38.0.
The University of Mount Union (Ohio) was third with 36.0 points and UW-Oshkosh fourth with 32.0. A total of 80 teams scored points.
UWL earned seven All-America honors on Saturday's final day of competition. The Eagles'
Josh Koenecke placed fourth (10.38) in the 100-meter dash to earn his second career outdoor All-America award. He was a member of the national champion 4x100-meter relay last season. Koenecke also has three career NCAA Division III Indoor All-America honors.

Jacob Teunas and
Charlie Handrick also picked up their first career outdoor All-America accolades on Saturday. Teunas placed fifth (49-8 1/4) in the triple jump while Handrick was seventh (54.14) in the 400-meter hurdles. Teunas also has two career indoor All-America awards while Handrick has one indoor recognition.

Joshua Desorcy and
Jake Sullivan earned NCAA III All-America honors with a fifth-place finish (3:11.47) on Saturday. It is the first career outdoor All-America award for all four student-athletes. Sullivan also has one career indoor All-America award.

Zachary Shoemaker-Allen was disqualified in the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Saturday by Rule 5-5.2a (jostles, cuts across or obstructs another competitor so as to flagrantly impede the other runner's progress, direct contact is not necessary - any action that causes another runner to break stride or lose momentum is grounds for disqualification).

James Hoesley and Koenecke were also disqualified in Saturday's final by Rule 5-9c (the baton is passed outside the defined passing zone).
UWL won its NCAA Division III record 15th outdoor title, including third straight, at the SPIRE Institute in 2017. The Eagles have won outdoor national championships in 1988, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1997, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2017. UWL also has an NCAA Division III record 18 indoor titles, sweeping the indoor and outdoor titles on 12 occasions (1988, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1997, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2013, 2017).
The Eagles have recorded 30 top-10 finishes, including 27 in the top-four, at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.
UWL has 49 individual outdoor national champions in school history. The Eagles have won six 4x400-meter relay national titles (1992, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2016) and three 4x100-meter relay crowns (2004, 2015, 2018). UWL's

The top-eight finishers in each event earn NCAA Division III All-America honors. The top-22 female and top-20 male times/marks in event along with the top-16 relays teams in the nation qualified for the national championships.
