Individual Scores
Lake City, Minn. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's golf team finished third at the Saint Mary's (Minn.) Invitational Sunday at The Jewel Golf Club.
The Eagles finished the one-day tournament with a team total of 362. UW-Stout won the team title with a score of 333 while Macalester College (MInn.) finished second with a team total of 349. The College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) was fourth at 403, St. Mary's (Minn.) finished fifth at 429 and UW-Superior sixth at 447. Augsburg University (Minn.) did not finish for a team score.
Individually, UWL's
Hannah Ottevaere finished tied for fourth with a score of 84 on the par 72-course, measuring 5,285 yards. Finished tied for sixth was
Maija Tanberg with an 86 while
Haley Dunn shot a 93 tying her for 13th.
Maggie Lang tied for 17th with a 94.
The Eagles'
Leah Sindberg was in 21st-place (99) while teammates
Sarah Faanes finished 22nd (101) and
Leah Kroening tied for 24th (104). A total of 35 players started the tournament.
Marie Allo of UW-Stout earned medalist honors with a five-over par 77.
UWL, led by head coach
David Taebel, completed its first season of varsity competition since 1982-83 with Sunday's tournament. Women's golf was a varsity sport at UWL from 1970-71 through 1982-83. It was suspended at the conclusion of the 1982-83 season and became a club sport.
