Waverly, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's golf team is in fifth-place after the first day of competition at the Wartburg College (Iowa) Spring Invitational Saturday at Prairie Link Golf Course.
The Eagles have a team score of 366 after Saturday's opening round. Carleton College (Minn.) leads with a score of 322 with Wartburg (Iowa) second with 342 and Central College (Iowa) third with 348. Viterbo University, Wis. is fourth (352) followed by UWL (366), Luther College, Iowa (368) and UW-Eau Claire (380). Saint Mary's University (Minn.) did not complete the first-round.
Individually, UWL's
Maija Tanberg is tied for third with a round of 81 on the par 72 course, measuring 5,822 yards. The Eagles'
Sarah Faanes and
Leah Sindberg are tied for 26th (94) while
Haley Dunn is tied for 31st (97) and
Maggie Lang is 44th (103). A total of 50 players started the tournament.
Ziyi Wang of Carleton (Minn.) is the individual leader after a round of 77.
