Whitewater, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team captured the Midwest ELITE Invitational Saturday afternoon at UW-Whitewater. The Eagles finished with 151.0 team points while UW-Whitewater was second with 99.5 and Washington University-St. Louis (Mo.) third with 89.0. A total of 10 teams competed.
UWL had six individual champions on Saturday, including
Samuel Sadowski in the long jump (23-3 1/2) and
Andrew Jarrett in the weight throw (66-8). The Eagles won four titles on the track, including
Josh Koenecke in the 60-meter dash (6.92),
Will Seeser in the 400-meter dash (50.24),
Samuel Hinz in the 800-meter run (1:54.77) and
Joshua Schraeder in the 5,000-meter run (14:34.03).
Along with Sadowski winning the long jump,
Jacob Teunas was second (22-8) and
Cameron Sorenson fourth (22-6 1/4). Sorenson was also sixth (44-3 1/2) in the triple jump.
The Eagles'
Kaleb Schuster placed fourth (14-10 1/4) and
Isaac Lock fifth (14-10 1/4) in the pole vault.
Kyle Pulvermacher was second (49-4 1/2) in the shot put while
Christian Morzinski placed second (60-6 3/4) and
Justin Donkin fourth (55-9 3/4) in the weight throw.
On the track, Koenecke was also second (22.32) in the 200-meter dash while
Troy DeBruin was third (22.42). DeBruin placed sixth (7.06) in the 60-meter dash.
Charlie Handrick finished fourth (50.46) and
Joshua Desorcy fifth (50.47) in the 500-meter dash.
Zachary Shoemaker-Allen finished second (4:17.60) in the mile run Saturday while
Tyler Nault was fifth (14:47.62) in the 5,000-meter run.
UWL returns to action Friday, February 15 at the Minnesota State University, Mankato Maverick Invitational at 11 a.m.
