Collegeville, Minn. - Three members of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team competed at the Saint John's University (Minn.) North Country Open Saturday. No team scores were recorded.

Adam Gusky placed third at 197-pounds with a 2-2 record. He lost by decision (7-5) to Wyatt Richardson of Augsburg University (Minn.) in the first round and by fall (2:48) to unattached wrestler Josh Bue in the second round. He came back with a pair of wins to earn third. He won by major decision (10-2) over Dominic Skawiniak of Saint John's (Minn.) before winning by decision (4-1) over Brent Chambers of Augsburg (Minn.). Â

Spencer Hutchinson and
Sam Wenzel each went 1-2 in the 149-pound division Saturday. Hutchinson won by decision (3-2) over Zachary Beaumaster of Southwest State University (Minn.) in the second round after a first-round bye. He then lost by decision (5-0) to Aaron Wilson of Augsburg (Minn.) in the quarterfinals. Hutchinson lost by decision (6-4) to Cruze Hurlburt of Augsburg (Minn.) in the consolation round.Â
Wenzel won by decision (3-2) over Robert Shields of Southwest State (Minn.) in the first round before losing the next two matches. He lost by fall (1:49) to Boone Young of Augsburg (Minn.) in the second round and by decision (9-2) to unattached Tanner Day in the consolation round.
