Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Menomonie, Wis.- The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse softball team swept a doubleheader at UW-Stout Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field, winning the opener, 4-1 and the nightcap, 7-1.  The Eagles improve to 17-10 overall and 2-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Blue Devils drop to 9-13 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

In the opener, the game was scoreless until the top of the fifth.  Brooke Baldwin had come in to pinch-run for Sydney Murphy, who led off the inning with a single.  Katrina O'Keefe reached base and Baldwin advanced after a fielder's choice failed to put her out at second.  Baldwin advanced to third on a fly ball out.  O'Keefe stole second to put runners on second and third with one out.  After a strikeout, Brittany Baldwin hit a two-out, two-run double, scoring Brooke Baldwin and O'Keefe to make it 2-0. 
 
The Eagles added to their lead in the top of the seventh.  Caitlyn Hughes led off the inning with a single, and Jenny Gallagher came in to pinch run.  Ashley Lindstrom singled, sending Gallagher to third.  Sydney Schemenauer came in to run for Lindstrom.  Brittany Baldwin reached on a fielder's choice, advancing Schemenauer and driving in Gallagher to make it 3-0.  Both runners moved up on an error.  Then, with two outs, Emilie Wiltzius singled, driving in Schemanauer to make it 4-0. 
 
UW-Stout scored an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn't enough and the Eagles won 4-1. 
 
Caitlyn Hughes (6-1) picked up the victory in game one for UWL, going 5.0 innings, allowing no runs on three hits with seven strikeouts.  Katie Klein pitched the final 2.0 innings, picking up her ninth save of the season.  She allowed one unearned run on two hits while striking out three.  Klein set a single-season school record with her ninth save of the season, breaking her own record of eight set last season.
 
Murphy was 2-for-3 while Brittany Baldwin drove in three runs for the Eagles. 
 
Tori Workman (4-7) took the complete-game loss for UW-Stout, giving up four runs (two earned) on eight hits.  She struck out four batters. 
 
In game two, UWL struck first in the top of the third.  Emily Holldorf scored on an error by the left fielder after a two-out single to make it 1-0. The Eagles added another run in the top of the fifth to make it 2-0.  Sarah Mueller doubled to lead off the inning, and Schemenauer came in to pinch run.  She later scored on an O'Keefe bunt single. 
 
UWL broke the game open in the sixth, sending 11 to the plate and scoring five runs on two hits and three UW-Stout errors to make it 7-0.
 
The Blue Devils finally got on the board in the bottom of the seventh to make the final 7-1 in the nightcap.  
 
Megan Nelson (3-1) picked up the victory for the Eagles, tossing 6.0 scoreless innings on four hits, while striking out three batters.  Klein pitched 1.0 inning, giving up a run on one hit and recording one strikeout. 
 
Schemenauer went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, while O'Keefe added two RBI. 

McKayla Brunner (2-2) took the loss for UW-Stout, giving up two runs on four hits over 4.0 innings, adding a strikeout.
