Box Score 2 Tucson, Ariz. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse softball team finished its spring trip to the Tucson Invitational Games with a pair of wins Sunday. The Eagles earned a 5-3 victory over Midland University (Neb.) and a 7-2 win over Carleton College (Minn.). UWL improves to 11-4 on the season, finishing 9-4 on its spring trip.
Midland (Neb.) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first Sunday and made it 3-0 in the top of third on Sherise Burnside's RBI single. UWL tied it at 3-3 in the bottom of third with three unearned runs.
Sydney Murphy's two-run single cut the lead to 3-2 scoring

Emilie Wiltzius. Pinch-runner
Jenna Jaquish later tied the game scoring on Midland's (Neb.) second error of the inning.
UWL took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the fourth on

Caitlyn Hughes (4-0) earned the win for UWL, going 4.0 innings, allowing five hits, three runs (two earned) and one walk while striking out six.
Jessie Carignan went 2.0 innings in relief, allowing two walks while striking out three.
Katie Klein earned her sixth save of the season, pitching 1.0 inning, recording two strikeouts.
The Eagles totaled nine hits as Holldorf went 2-for-4 and Wiltzius finished 2-for-3. Murphy had two RBI.
Skyle Peterson (5-7) suffered the loss for Midland (Neb.), pitching 4.1 innings, allowing eight hits and five runs (two earned). Heard went 2-for-3.
Carleton (Minn.) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Anna Lauko scored on Sam Kile's single. UWL scored four runs in the bottom of the first on five hits. Faber's RBI single tied the game and Holldorf scored on a Carleton (Minn.) error to give UWL a 2-1 lead.
Ashley Lindstrom followed with a two-run home run to knock in Faber.
The Knights cut the lead to 4-2 in the top of the third on Kile's groundout, but the Eagles added a run in the bottom of the inning on
Megan Nelson's RBI single. Wiltzius' run-scoring groundout gave UWL a 6-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth and
Brittany Baldwin scored an unearned run in the sixth to finish the scoring.
Heather Grelle (1-0) picked up the victory, pitching 3.0 innings of relief, allowing three hits and one walk with one strikeout. Nelson started for the Eagles, going 3.0 innings, allowing six hits and two runs with one strikeout. Klein pitched 1.0 inning recording one strikeout.
The Eagles finished with eight hits. Holldorf went 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Faber finished 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Lindstrom had two RBI.
Keelin Davis (0-2) took the loss for Carleton (Minn.), pitching a complete-game. She went 6.0 innings, allowing eight hits, seven runs (five earned) and two walks with four strikeouts. Katie Eppard, Ari Zuaro and Corrie Lucchesi each had two hits.
UWL returns to action Tuesday, March 29 hosting city-rival Viterbo University (Wis.) in a doubleheader. Game one starts at 3 p.m. at North Campus Field.
