The four-match winning streak is UWL's longest since four consecutive victories in 2006. The Eagles have started 2-0 in the WIAC for the first time since 2008. "We are very excited to be 2-0 in the WIAC, but we we know we have to play better Saturday (at UW-Eau Claire)," said UWL head coach
Jason Murphy. "Our players were excited to win, but they knew right after the match we needed to move our focus to UW-Eau Claire."
UWL took a 1-0 lead at 22:03 as
Margaret Harings scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season assisted by
Natalie Herzog. The Eagles made it 2-0 at 39:47 with
Maddie Granos notching her first goal of the year assisted by
Maggie Edmark. UWL led 2-0 at halftime.
"We were happy to play so well in the first half," said Murphy. "In addition to our two goals, we created great chances that just missed. Our play tonight was very good with our passing, movement, and ball winning and because of that, we were able to control the game.
"Margaret's goal followed a great combination play and Maddie's finish was very good. Maddie was very clinical in her finishing in training this week and it showed today when we needed her."
