UW-La Crosse Falls at Missouri Science & Technology

Box Score Rolla, Mo. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse football team fell 27-14 at NCAA Division II Missouri University of Science & Technology Saturday afternoon at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.  The Eagles drop to 0-3 on the season while the Miners improve to 1-2.  With the win, Missouri S&T now leads the all-time series, 2-1, with UW-L.
 
The Eagles jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter.  Eric Rabas blocked Austin Dussold's punt on Missouri S&T's first possession of the game with Dylan Bloch recovering the ball at the Miners' four-yard line. UW-L put together a quick two-play, four-yard scoring drive capped off by a one-yard touchdown run by Ben Hertrampf with 9:52 remaining in the first quarter. Matt Van Druten converted the extra point.
 
Just over four minutes later after pinning Missouri S&T at its own one-yard line on a Van Druten punt, Zach Wall intercepted a pass at the three-yard line and returned it for a touchdown giving the Eagles a 14-0 lead with 5:13 remaining in the opening quarter. Van Druten made the extra point.
 
Adam Peden put Missouri S&T on the scoreboard with a 47-yard field goal with 6:07 remaining in the second quarter to cut the lead to 14-3 at halftime.

UW-L's Andy Sires was intercepted by Chris Horn on the Eagles' first possession of the second half, returning it 12-yards to the UW-L 45-yard line. Missouri S&T cut its margin to 14-10 with 11:17 left in the third quarter on Reed Browns' 26-yard touchdown pass to Josh Corbid. Peden made the extra point as the Miners' used 1:20 in going 45 yards in four plays.

Sires was intercepted on UW-L's next possession by Sean Martin, setting Missouri S&T up on the UW-L 40-yard line. The Miners went 40 yards in 10 plays and 4:19 as Zenel Hudson scored on a two-yard run to give Missouri S&T and 17-14 lead after Peden's extra-point.
 
After an Eagles' punt, Peden gave the Miners a 20-14 lead on a 21-yard field goal wiht 1:16 remaining in the third quarter. Missouri S&T went 10 plays and 77 yards in 2:37.

Hudson completed the scoring on an 84-yard touchdown run with 2:01 left in the game to make it 27-14. The Miners went 93 yards in three plays and 1:49.
 
UW-L finished with 232 yards on offense, including 115 rushing and 117 passing.  Sires was eight-of-21 passing for 117 yards and two interceptions. Tony Favre had three catches for 46 yards while Jeff Haffemann had two receptions for 36 yards. Hertrampf finished with 55 yards rushing on 22 carries and one touchdown.  Jude Williams had 50 yards rushing on seven attempts.
 
Missouri S&T totaled 503 yards of offense, including 287 rushing and 216 passing. Brown finished 18-of-40 for 216 yards with one touchdown and one interception while Hudson totaled 222 yards rushing on 35 carries and two touchdowns. Melvin Stovall led the Miners with five catches for 47 yards. Corbid had three receptions for 55 yards and one touchdown.

Missouri S&T finished with 24 first downs to UW-L's 11. The Miners were eight-of-19 on third-down and won the time of possession, 32:27 to 27:33. The Eagles were six-of-17 on third-down.
 
Jake Perner led UW-L with 11 tackles, including seven unassisted. Shane Rockweiler finished with 10 tackles and Max Nicholson eight tackles. Zackary Kleven and Lucas Schmitz each recorded a quarterback sack.
 
Chris Emiseh led Missouri S&T with 10 tackles. Zach Melber finished with eight tackles while Andew Masters had one quarterback sack.
 
UW-L returns to action Saturday, October 5 hosting UW-Whitewater in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opener for both teams.  Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
