Box Score Whitewater, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse baseball team earned a 12-2 victory in seven innings at third-ranked and top-seeded UW-Whitewater Sunday morning in an elimination game at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament at Prucha Field at Miller Stadium. The fourth-seeded Eagles advance to play second-seeded UW-Stevens Point for the tournament title.
If UW-L defeats UW-Stevens Point, the teams will face each other again at 4 p.m. in a second championship game. The winner of the WIAC Tournament earns the league's automatic bid to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Tournament.
UW-L improves to 20-20 on the season with its win Sunday morning while UW-Whitewater wraps up its regular season at 34-7. The Warhawks, the regular season conference champion and currently ranked third on the d3baseball.com Top-25 Poll, will await word if it receives an at-large berth for the national tournament.
It is UW-L's fourth straight WIAC Tournament win over UW-Whitewater. The Eagles earned a 6-0 victory over the Warhawks in the first game of this year's tournament Saturday morning after
Tim Verthein's complete-game two-hit shutout. UW-L defeated UW-Whitewater twice last season in La Crosse during the tournament, including 9-1 in the title contest.
UW-L will face UW-Stevens Point for the second time in this year's tournament. The Pointers earned a 6-3 victory over the Eagles Saturday night.
Kevin Johnson (6-2) earned the victory over UW-Whitewater Sunday, pitching a complete-game. He went 7.0 innings, allowing four hits, two runs and four walks while striking out three.
The Eagles scored five runs in the bottom of the first Sunday.
Cole Cefalu was hit-by-pitch to open the inning, but was forced out on
Alex Cordova's fielder's choice. Cordova then stole second and advanced to third on a Warhawks' throwing error.
Brooks Braga knocked in Cordova with an infield single to give UW-L a 1-0 lead. Braga stole second and moved to third on
Adam Cordova's single to left field.
Garrett Novinski then scored Braga with a bunt single. After Novinski was forced for the second out on

Adam Cordova and Morgan to make it 4-0.
Brett Jacobson followed with a RBI double to score Burmeister for a 5-0 lead.
Burmeister made it 6-0 with an RBI ground out in the bottom of the third to score Morgan.
UW-Whitewater cut the lead to 6-1 in the top of the fourth on Jared Fon's solo home run, but UW-L tallied a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning on

The Warhawks cut it to 8-2 in the top of the fifth as JT Schneider scored on Dylan Friend's fielder's choice. The Eagles got the run right back in the bottom of the frame to lead 9-2. Jacobson and Rowles both singled with two outs followed by Cefalu's RBI single to score Jacobson.
UW-L took an 11-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth. Braga tripled to start the inning and scored on
Adam Cordova's two-run home run. The Eagles ended the game by run margin in the bottom of the seventh. Rowles singled with one out and advanced to second on a balk. Cefalu moved Rowles to third with a single and
Alex Cordova hit a sacrifice fly to right field to knock in Rowles.
Every starter finished with at least one hit for UW-L as the team finished with a season-high 18.
Adam Cordova went 3-for-4 with two runs and four RBI while Rowles went 3-for-4 with two runs. Burmeister had three RBI.
Cefalu, Braga, Novinski, Morgan and Jacobson each had two hits.
Justin Lambert (7-2) suffered the loss for UW-Whitewater. He went 3.2 innings, allowing 10 hits, eight runs (seven earned) and one walk.
Four individuals had a hit for the Warhawks. UW-Whitewater was held to six hits in the two tournament games versus UW-L.
