Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team earned a 3-1 victory over Saint Mary's University (Minn.) Wednesday night at Veterans Field. The Eagles improve to 4-9-1 on the season while the Cardinals fall to 0-15. UW-L now leads the all-time series, 8-4-1, with Saint Mary's.
Kelly Denk gave UW-L a 1-0 lead at 29:43 assisted by
Jenna Rosienski and
Laura Sauer. It was Denk's first goal of the season.
The match remained 1-0 at halftime.
Saint Mary's tied the match at 1-1 at 48:25 as Kelli Harstad tallied for second goal of the year. Bethany Schmidt recorded the assist for the Cardinals.
Denk then scored her second goal of the match and season at 51:08 to give UW-L a 2-1 lead. It was unassisted goal.
The Eagles'
Mackenzie Pokorny made it 3-1 at 66:00 with assists from Sauer and
Kali Schultz. It was Pokorny's second goal of the year.
UW-L finished with a season-high 27 shots Wednesday night, including a season-high 16 on goal.
Saint Mary's totaled eight shots with three on goal.
The Eagles'
Ashley Tracy recorded two saves while the Cardinals' Aubrie Cornell had 13.
