Chicago, Ill. -- Richter Studios, an award-winning creative services firm based in Chicago, announced today the official launch of five commercials that have been created for the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse. The spots feature the voices of UW-L alums
Mike Maslowski,
Tom Newberry,
Bill Schroeder and
Rick Schaaf, each of who enjoyed significant professional football careers.
David and
Jeremy Richter, who are also UW-L alums, are donating the entire effort to the football program.
“Almost 20 years ago, I celebrated in Bradenton, Florida with my teammates and coaches as we won the national championship on the last play of the game,” stated Richter Studios President Jeremy Richter. “Having that type of experience transformed my entire life and today's student-athletes should have that same type of opportunity. With the recent moves to bring in a new athletic director and head football coach, David and I believed the timing was right to celebrate the exciting road ahead.”
The commercials were shot this summer at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex and feature present UW-L athletes. Each of the spots will be a unique cinematic experience because they were all shot using the RED One MX and Phantom motion film cameras, both of which are standard gear on major Hollywood productions. For numerous scenes that were shot of UW-L athletes, the Phantom camera captured 1,000 frames per second.
“When I look at the amount of collaborative effort by Jeremy and his staff, as well as the professional quality that comes with these commercials, I am humbled that our football program can receive such a gift,” stated UW-La Crosse head football coach
Joel Dettwiler. “You cannot find anything like it anywhere else in our line of work. It is truly awe-inspiring stuff."
“From a cost and creative execution standpoint, these commercials are on par with the very best that Nike, Adidas and perhaps a handful of other sports companies are able to consider,” stated Richter. “They will hopefully provide UW-L with a tremendous recruitment advantage, which was the goal from the day one in this effort.”
The effort is made up of four 30-second commercials and an extended three-minute commercial. All five commercials can be viewed at:

David and Jeremy Richter were both defensive linemen on the 1989 football team that made it to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Championship. David graduated in the spring of 1992 with an accounting degree. Jeremy received a degree in marketing and was a thrower on three national championship track & field teams, as well as a defensive tackle for the 1992 championship football team which defeated Washington and Jefferson of Pennsylvania by the score of 16-12. The two brothers have been in the commercial production business for the past 15 years and officially formed Richter Studios in 2003.
