La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team hosted the Ashton May Invitational Friday at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.

Ashton May earned 10 career
NCAA III All-America honors.
The meet is named for former assistant women's track & field coach Ashton May, who passed away September 16, 2012 after a traffic accident north of Adams, Minnesota. She completed her second season as an assistant coach with the Eagles in 2011-12. May earned her degree from UWL in 2010 in elementary education and was a math and social studies teacher at Holmen (Wis.) Middle School. May will be inducted into the UWL Wall of Fame this fall.
A four-year track & field letter winner for the Eagles, she earned 10 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III All-America awards, including second-place finishes in the long jump and triple jump at the 2010 outdoor championships. May was also second in the long jump at the 2010 indoor national championships. She was inducted into the UWL Wall of Fame in 2022.Â
UWL won three individual and one relay title on Friday. On the track, the Eagles'
Brooklyn Luebke won the 1,500-meter run (4:22.22) while
Taylor Molling,
Alli Thomas,
Grace Kern and Maddie Hecker took the 4x400-meter relay (3:55.74).
In the field events,
Ella Puls captured the hammer throw (174-8) and
Alyssa Pierce the shot put (40-0).
Along with Luebke's first-place finish in the 1,500-meter run,
Annika Elliott was fifth (4:45.11) and
Natasha Tiry sixth (4:46.49).

Molling was second (12.49) in the 100-meter dash while
Megan Zemke was second (26.21) and
Mia Hanger third (26.46) in the 200-meter dash. Kern placed third (58.48) in the 400-meter dash.Â
UWL's
Olivia Heilman placed second (11:33.18) and
Sami Miller fifth (11:41.53) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Other top-six finishers in the field events included
Izzy Bender second (5-4 ¼) and
Ainsley Hansen third (5-4 ¼) in the high jump while
Ava Foley was third (18-0 ½),
Jenna Miller fourth (17-11) and
Josie Blum fifth (17-8 ¼) in the long jump.

Shayna Graf placed second (35-5 ¾) in the shot put. The Eagles had three of the top-six finishers in the javelin throw with Puls fourth (119-7),
Noelle Hackenmueller fifth (118-0) and
Amber Grosse sixth (117-1).
Jadyn Roden was fourth (161-9) in the hammer throw.
Three of the top-six finishers in the pole vault were from UWL as
Araceli De Leo Lopez was fourth (12-4 ½),
Emily Shafron fifth (12-4 ½) and
Madison Habberstad sixth (11-10 ½).
The high jump and pole vault were both moved to Hetzel Fieldhouse due to rain.
