Men's Track and Field Hosts NCAA Final Qualifier

Sebastian Jefferson won the long jump on Saturday.

 – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Men's Track and Field hosted the UWL Final Qualifier Saturday afternoon at Hetzel Fieldhouse. 

THE BASICS
  • Results: No team scores were reported.
  • Location: Hetzel Fieldhouse, La Crosse, Wis.
  • Up next:  This was the final event of the indoor season before the Eagles compete at the National Collegiate Athletic Assocition Division III Indoor Championships March 13 and 14. 

THE RESULTS

    FIELD EVENTS
  • Triple Jump: Gabe Olsen was the Eagles top finisher in the triple jump as he finished second with a mark of 46-0 1/2. 
  • Long Jump: Sebastian Jefferson won the long jump with a mark of 23-1 3/4 while Allen Stupinean finished third (22-6 1/4) and Triton Schmidt fifth (22-4 1/2). 
  • Shot Put: UWL had two throwers finish in the top five on Saturday including Spencer Prats in third (54-4 1/2) and Ben Youngworth in fifth (54-3 3/4). 
  • Weight Throw: UWL had two of the top four finishers in the weight throw as Anthony Staryszak finished second (60-7 3/4) and Logan Powers was fourth (59-9 3/4). 
  • Pole Vault: Alexander Wagner finished fourth in the pole vault (15-11) while Josh Brunner was fifth (15-11). 
    TRACK EVENTS 
  • 60-meter dash - UWL took home the top three spots in the 60-meter dash with Evan Maurud winning the event with a meet record time of 6.72. Following Maurud across the finish line was Landon Gallun in second (6.79) and Ryder Smith in third (6.81). 
  • 800-meter –  Isaac Henkel was the top Eagle finisher in the 800-meter run as he finished second in a time of 1:56.25. Right behind him was teammate Ethan Eilertson in third place with a time of 1:56.46.
  • 200-meter – Gallun also had a top finish in the 200-meter run as he finished third with a time of 21.94.
  • Mile – Nash Merklein won the mile with a time of 4:10.13 followed by Aidan Manning in second (4:11.36). Teammate Chase Altergott finished third with a time of 4:12.28 while Parker Heintz was fourth (4:15.82). 
  • 3000-meter run - Owen Clark led four Eagles in the 3000-meter run with a top time of 8:13.29. Charles Vater finished second (8:15.05) while Isaac Ewing was third (8:27.07) and Declan Gregg finished fourth (8:37.08).
