Menomonie, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse lacrosse team opened Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play with an 21-5 victory at UW-Stout Saturday afternoon at Nelson Field.
The Eagles improve to 7-1 overall while the Blue Devils drop to 5-4 overall and 0-2 in the WIAC.
UWL scored the first four goals of the game, including a pair from
Ava Schiltz. She opened the scoring at 13:41 off an
Adison Brown assist.
Megan Maloney's goal at 7:01 gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead and
Tori Katzenmeyer scored on an
Evie Brilz assist to make it 3-0. Schiltz scored her second goal of the first quarter with 5:24 left for a 4-0 lead.
Brinley Tonn's goal with 3:45 remaining in the opening quarter cut the deficit to 4-1, but Schiltz tallied her third goal of the first quarter with 2:07 left to make it 5-1. Maloney recorded an assist.

Emily Wrobbel had one goal
and two assists.
After Maddy Nuttall scored with 13:24 remaining in the second quarter to make it 5-2, UWL scored the next eight goals to take a 13-2 halftime advantage. Brilz and Maloney each scored twice in the quarter while Brown, Katzenmeyer, Schiltz and
Anna Millard also scored. Brown, Katzenmeyer and Millard's goals all came a man-up. Schiltz, Millard and
Emily Wrobbel registered assists.
UWL outscored UW-Stout, 5-0, in the third quarter. Schiltz scored at 14:22 off Maloney's assist to make it 14-2. Brilz' goal on a Millard assist extended the lead to 15-2 with 12:39 remaining. Schiltz, Katzenmeyer and Wrobbel also scored in the quarter to make it 18-2. Wrobbel had an assist on Katzenmeyer's goal while both of the goals from Schiltz were a man-down. Wrobbel recorded a man-up goal.
Katie Klicker opened the fourth quarter with goals with the first being a man-up.
Jadyn Constine recorded an assist. Luci Fitzgerald scored for UW-Stout to make it 20-3, but
Maggie Sadowski's goal gave UWL a 21-3 lead. Ava Loveland and Mai Nou Vang scored in the final 5:24 for UW-Stout.
UWL finished with 39 shots with 26 on goal. Schiltz led the Eagles with six goals and seven points while Maloney, Katzenmeyer and Brilz each scored three goals. Maloney, Millard and Wrobbel led the team with two assists. Maloney had a team-high three ground balls and nine draw controls.
Stefania Rossi earned the win, recording three saves, playing three quarters.
Lucretia Morgan played the final quarter, finishing with one save.
UW-Stout totaled 16 shots, including nine on goal. Five different players recorded a goal for the Blue Devils.Emilia Bullock had a team-leading four ground balls and Megan Palmer a team-high five draw controls.
Emilia Bullock suffered the loss, registering nine saves.
UWL returns to action Wednesday, April 1 at UW-River Falls at 5 p.m.
