Davenport, Fla. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse baseball team extended their win streak to five games as they defeated Colby College (ME) on Sunday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UWL would take an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as they scored two runs on two hits and a sacrifice bunt. With one out, Charley Rowan singled and advanced to second when Brady Lash walked. Evan Schmidt then singled to score Rowan and put Lash on third base. Brady Burrill then brought Lash home to score with a sacrifice bunt.
- The Mules would get one of those runs back in the top of the second as Myles Oo scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-1.
- Sam Viniard led off the bottom of the second with a single and advanced to third on Calvin Hargrove's ground out to first base. Chris Calico then doubled to put UWL up 3-1 as Viniard came into score.
- UWL would add three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as Calico drove in a run with his second double of the game while Rowan drove in two runs with a single to make it 6-1 UWL.
- Colby would put together an offensive threat in the top of the sixth as Will Burns walked and advanced to second on Tony Silva's single. Myles Gythfe then singled to score Burns but that would be the only run the Mules would get. Eagles starting pitcher AJ Curtis (1-2) would induce a double play ground out and record his sixth strikeout of the game to get out of the jam.
- In the bottom of the sixth, UWL would bat around and score six runs on four hits and an error to force their second straight 10-run rule outcome. Hargrove doubled while Matthew Sonnenschein was hit followed by Calico walking to load the bases. Rowan then walked to force in Hargrove while Lash singled to score both Sonnenschein and Calico to make it 9-2. After Lash stole second and a ground out, Burrill singled to bring home both Lash and Rowan. After Emiliano Ramos reached on an error, Viniard singled to score Burrill for the final run of the game.
FROM THE BOX SCORE
- Offensively, UWL finished with 12 runs on 12 hits and five walks.
- Five Eagles finished with multi-hit/multi-runs scored games including Burrill (1-for-2, walk, three RBIs and a run scored) Rowan (2-for-3, walk, 3 RBIs and two runs scored), Lash (2-for-3, walk, 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored), Calico (2-for-3, walk, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored) and Viniard (2-for-3, walk and two runs scored).
- Lash also finished with two stolen bases while Rowan had one.
- Curtis picked up his first win of the season as he went 6.0 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out six for the Eagles. Austin Olla pitched a perfect 1-2-3 seventh inning.
- Colby finished with two runs on six hits and one walk.
- Adam Schwartz (1-1) suffered the loss for Colby as he allowed six runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out one.
- Myles Gythfeldt led the Mules going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
