Eight Named to College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team®; Includes Five Repeat Selections

La Crosse, Wis. - Eight members of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse football team have been named to the 2025 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Academic All-District® Team, selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), the organization announced Tuesday. 

Seniors Tyler Bowman of Spring Valley (H.S.), Nicholas Jorndt of Whitefish Bay (H.S.), Jared Pelishek of De Pere (Wrightstown), Bodie Schanhofer of Greenville (Hortonville), Michael Stack of Oshkosh (West), along with junior Trent Mullen of Appleton (North) and sophomores Noah Gehin of De Pere (H.S.) and Thomas Laufenberg of Sparta (H.S.) each earned the honor.

It marks the third straight CSC Academic All-District® accolade for Bowman and Stack and second for consecutive for Jorndt, Schanhofer and Mullen.Action Shot

Bowman, a computer science major with a 3.73 grade point average, is a six-time member of UWL's Dean's List. He is a three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. Bowman was named the 2025 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Max Sparger Scholar-Athlete.

Voted to the 2025 All-WIAC Honorable Mention Team at wide receiver, Bowman finished second for UWL this season in receptions (40) and receiving yards (438) while ranking third in touchdown catches (4). He caught at least one pass in all 11 games, including a season-high six versus Wayne State University (Mich.), UW-Eau Claire and UW-Platteville. Bowman had a season-high two touchdown catches against Wayne State (Mich.) and UW-Oshkosh and a season-high 92 receiving yards versus UW-Stout.

Jorndt is majoring in finance and economics with a 3.55 grade point average. He is a three-year member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll and UWL's Dean's List.
 
Jorndt finished tied for second for UWL in overall tackles (42) this year and tied for sixth in solo tackles (20) at linebacker. He had a season-high eight tackles versus UW-Whitewater and a team-high seven against UW-Oshkosh. Jorndt recorded six tackles against UW-Platteville and UW-Stout.

An exercise sport science major with a 3.66 grade point average, Pelishek has been a member of UWL's Dean's List for nine semesters. He has been on the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll the last three years.

Pelishek recorded 28 tackles in 2025, including 17 unassisted, while playing defensive back. He had a season-high eight tackles versus UW-Whitewater and finished with six against North Central College (Ill.). Pelishek recorded an interception versus UW-River Falls.

Majoring in Broadfield social studies with a 3.60 grade point average, Schanhofer has been on the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll the last three years. He has been on UWL's Dean's List four semesters.

Earning 2025 All-WIAC Honorable Mention laurels at defensive end, Schanhofer recorded 33 tackles overall. He finished third for UWL in tackles for loss (5.5) and tied for fourth in quarterback sacks (2.0). Schanhofer finished with a season-high five tackles versus UW-Oshkosh and UW-River Falls. He had 2.0 tackles for loss against UW-Whitewater.

Named to the 2025 Associated Press (AP) All-America Second Team and the D3football.com All-America Fourth Team. He was selected the WIAC Special Teams Player of the Year, finishing 38-of-39 in extra-point attempts and nine-of-13 in field goal attempts. Stack converted a season-high 47-yard field goal versus UW-Stout and had the game-winning 36-yard field goal against UW-Whitewater. He was named a semifinalist for the Fred Mitchell Award, given to the nation's top collegiate placekicker.
 
Mullen is majoring in finance with a 3.75 grade point average and a member of UWL's Dean's List four semesters and two-year member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. A starter in all 11 games at cornerback, Mullen earned 2025 All-WIAC First Team honors.

He recorded 27 tackles, including 20 unassisted. Mullen tied for the team lead with three interceptions and led UWL with five pass break-ups. He had interceptions versus Carnegie Mellon University (Pa.), UW-Whitewater and UW-Stout. Mullen had a season-high six tackles against North Central (Ill.). He also recorded 3.0 tackles for loss.

A biology/pre-professional health major with a 3.98 grade point average, Gehin has been on UWL's Dean's List two semesters. He was named to the 2024-25 WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.

Gehin, playing linebacker, recorded 15 tackles this year. He had a season-high three tackles versus UW-Platteville and UW-Stevens Point. Gehin recorded a fumble recovery against Carnegie Mellon (Pa.).

Laufenberg, majoring in physical, adapted, and school health education with a 4.00 grade point average, has been on UWL's Dean's List twice. He was a member of the 2024-25 WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.

Playing defensive end, Laufenberg had 14 tackles this year, including 4.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 quarterback sacks. He finished with four tackles versus UW-Platteville and had 2.0 sacks against UW-Oshkosh.

The 2025 Academic All-District® Football Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced January 27, 2026. 

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
