La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team earned a 181-119 dual victory over UW-Stevens Point Saturday afternoon in the
Richard Pein Natatorium in Mitchell Hall.
UWL improves to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). Â
The Eagles won 12 events on Saturday.
Preston Nygaard won three titles on Saturday, including the 100 (56.30) and 200 (2:03.41) breaststroke and 200 I.M. (1:58.21). He set facility records in winning the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Nygaard broke the 100 breaststroke record of 57.23 set by UWL's David Dettmann in 2005 and the 200 breaststroke record of 2:06.36 set by UW-Stevens Point's Ben Gensler in 2005.

Owen Acker
Owen Acker won two events Saturday, taking the 500 (5:01.09) and 1,000 (10:23.65) freestyle while finishing third in the 200 I.M. (2:04.22).
Tyler Hartmann captured the 50 freestyle (21.31),
Jesse Hammes the 100 freestyle (47.22),
Davin Evans the 200 freestyle (1:48.08),
Jonah Elfers the 100 butterfly (52.45) and
Caleb Jondle the 200 butterfly (2:01.14).
Hartmann was second in the 100 freestyle (47.52) and 100 butterfly (53.03) with Hammes second in the 50 freestyle (21.54). Evans was third in the 200 breaststroke (2:16.63) while Elfers was third in the 200 butterfly (2:05.23).
Jacob Ketterling placed second in the 100 (53.75) and 200 (1:59.56) backstroke with
Isaac Mozena finishing second in the 200 butterfly (2:04.33) and third in the 100 butterfly (53.77).
UWL's
Gavin LaBeau finished second in the 200 freestyle (1:50.69) with
Luca Nociti third in the 100 freestyle (49.11).
In Saturday's diving competition,
Ethan Pedersen placed third in the three-meter (255.40 points).
UWL swept both relays with Ketterling, Nygaard, Elfers and Hammes winning the 200 medley relay (1:34.25) and Ketterling, Hartmann,
Coby Zander and Hammes capturing the 400 freestyle relay (3:11.31).
UWL returns to action Friday, February 6 at the University of Minnesota First Chance Invitational.
