Cleveland, Ohio - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is in ninth-place after the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III LEARFIELD Directors' Cup final fall standings. The Eagles have 278.50 points while Tufts University (Mass.) leads with 485.00.
Johns Hopkins University (Md.) is second with 454.50 points, Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) third with 358.50 and Williams College (Mass.) fourth with 343.50.
Trinity University (Texas) is fifth (334.00), Emory University (Ga.) sixth (311.00), Middlebury College (Vt.) seventh (307.50), Wesleyan University (Ct.) eighth (291.00), UW-La Crosse ninth (278.50) and Christopher Newport University (Va.) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology tied for 10th (272.00).
UW-La Crosse is the top Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) institution in the standings. UW-Eau Claire is in 19th-place (224.50) with UW-Whitewater 34th (169.00), UW-Platteville 42nd (119.00), UW-Oshkosh and UW-River Falls tied for 49th (100.00) and UW-Stevens Point 97th (56.00).
The fall standings include the eight sports of women's and men's cross country, women's and men's soccer, women's field hockey, women's volleyball, men's water polo and football. UW-La Crosse earned 100.00 points for the men's cross country team winning the NCAA Division III Championship, 64.50 points for women's cross country finishing 12th at the national meet, 64.00 points for the football squad playing in the third round of the national championships and 50.00 points for the soccer team advancing to the NCAA Division III Second Round.
UW-La Crosse finished 10
th in the 2024-25 LEARFIELD Directors' Cup, its best finish since tying for 10th in 2015-16.
UW-La Crosse is one of seven institutions to finish in the top-40 in all 28 years of the LEARFIELD College Directors' Cup, joining Williams (Mass.), Amherst College (Mass.), Middlebury (Vt.), Emory (Ga.), Ithaca College (N.Y.), and Washington-St. Louis (Mo.). The award was not presented in 2019-20 or 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 public health threat.
The Eagles have recorded 25 top-20 finishes in school history. UW-La Crosse has recorded 11 top-10 finishes overall, including a school-best seventh four times (2003-04, 2004-05, 2006-07, 2009-10).
The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and
USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's national finish in NCAA Championships.
