Men's Track and Field Competes At Final Qualifier; Blaskowski and 4x100 Relay Team Break NCAA III Records

Lyndon Hemmrich-Hartman and the 4x100 relay team broke the NCAA III national record

La Crosse, Wis. - With just over a week until the National Collegiate Athletic Conference Dividsion III Outdoor Championships, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team hosted the UWL Final Qualifier Wednesday night.

Up next: Qualifiers for the NCAA III Outdoor National Championships will officially be announced on Saturday morning. Eagles that qualify for nationals will compete Thursday-Saturday, May 22-24 in Geneva, Ohio where the Eagles as a team will be attempting to defend their 2024 NCAA III National Title.

THE RESULTS

FIELD EVENTS

Triple Jump - With a jump of 48-8 3/4, Gabe Olsen won the triple jump. In second place was William Cady (47-10 3/4) while Christian Crumbaker finished fourth (46-2 1/2), Gavin Sargeant fifth (45-9) and Brody Kluge sixth (45-3 3/4).
Javelin - With a throw of 197-2, Nate Lawrence won the javelin while Gaven Lange finished sixth (167-3).
Hammer Throw - Matthew Jackson finished fourth in the hammer throw with his best throw measuring 184-10.
Long Jump - Triton Schmidt finished third in the long jump with a mark of 23-1 1/4.
Pole Vault - UWL finished fourth, fifth and sixth in the pole vault as Caleb Moore cleared 16-2 1/2, Andrew Tumminaro 15-8 1/2 and Alexander Wagner 15-8 1/2.
High Jump - Nathan Andringa won the high jump with a jump of 6-6 1/4 while teammate Mitchell Eldredge finished second (6-6 1/4).
Discus - With a mark of 160-0, Anthony Staryszak finished sixth over all.
Shot Put - UWL had two Eagles place in the top five as Ben Youngworth finished second (54-8 3/4) and Spencer Prats was fifth (53-41/4).

TRACK EVENTS

4x100-meter Relay - The relay team of Ryder Smith, Sam Blaskowski, Evan Maurud and Lyndon Hemmrich-Hartman set a NCAA III record with a time of 39.53 to win the 4x100 relay. The record also breaks the schools record time of 39.72 which was ran by Spencer Reichart, Blaskowski, Collin Conzemius and Luke Schroeder during the 2024 season.
100-meter dash - Evan Maurud finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.68. Blaskowski broke another NCAA III record in the prelims as he ran a time of 10.05 breaking his own record of 10.08 set at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on May 3.
400-meter Run - Ethan Dugan finished second in the 400-meter run with a time of 49.02.
400-meter Hurdles - UWL had three of the top six hurdlers in the 400-meter hurdles led by a second place finish by Finn Patenaude (52.08) while Ayden Hart was fifth (53.27) and Zachary Nyquist sixth (53.45).
1500-meter Run - Jayden Zywicki (3:48.85) finished second in the 1500-meter run while Joey Sullivan was right behind in third place (3:48.92).
3000-meter Steeplechase - Mason Brown won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:04.69 while teammate Elias Ritzke finished second with a time of 9:15.55.
