Baseball Stay Perfect In Conference Play; Extends Win Streak To 15 Games

Mac Born went 5-for-9 with a home run, six RBIs and 3 runs scored on Sunday
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Oshkosh, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Baseball team swept nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh on Sunday afternoon as they completed the four game sweep of the Titans to remain undefeated in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
   
Game One 
  • UWL got on the scoreboard first as they took a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Mac Born singled with one out and advanced to second when Calvin Hargrove walked. Born and Hargrove moved up a base when Emiliano Ramose reached on a fielders choice. Chris VandenHeuvel then singled to score both Born and Hargrove for the early 2-0 lead.
  • A VandenHeuvel single in the fourth inning would score Hargrove who reached on a single to put UWL up 3-0.
  • Anthony Vivian and George Seaman walked to lead off the fifth inning and moved up a base on Born's single to load the bases. With two outs, Hargrove walked to score Vivian while Seaman scored an unearned run when Ramos reached via a fielding error as UWL extended its lead to 5-0.
  • In the sixth inning, Seaman singled with two outs and  advanced to second on a balk before Andrew Rajkovich walked. Born then hit his second home run of the series to put the Eagles up 8-0. 
  • The Titans would score their first run on the game in the bottom of the seventh inning on Carter Sebane's solo home run. 
  • The Eagles would add two insurance runs in the ninth inning when VandenHeuel's double scored both Ramos and Hargrove to make it 10-1. 
  • UW-Oshkosh did not go down quietly in their half of the ninth inning as they scored four runs on two hits and two walks. Jake Surane drove in two of those with a single while Nick Shiu brought in two runners with his single.

    Game Two
  • UWL scored first in the second inning as Rajkovich doubled to lead off the inning and scored on Born's single. Born would move to second on Vivian's single; however, the Titans would induce a double play to put Born on third. Keegan Fleischman then put the Eagles up 3-0 with his first home run of the season. 
  • UW-Oshkosh would cut their deficit to 3-2 on a one out single by Nick Shiu which drove in two runs in the bottom of the third inning. 
  • The Eagles would get those two runs back in the fourth inning as Vivian hit a one out double and scored on Jack Olver's triple. Fleischman then drove in his third run of the game on a ground out to second base which scored Olver.
  • With one out in the top of the fifth inning, Witte walked and advanced to third on George Seaman's single. A double steal by Witte and Seaman put the Eagles up 6-2. Rajkovich then singled which scored Seaman from second base giving UWL a 7-2 lead. 
  • UWL took a 13-2 lead in the top of the sixth inning as they scored six runs on three hits and four walks. Fleischman and Alec Campbell walked to start the sixth inning before advancing a base on a passed ball. VandenHeuvel then singled to center field to score both Campbell and Fleischman making the score 9-2. Then with the bases loaded, Rajkovich was hit by a pitch which forced in VandenHeuvel. Born followed that with a single to left center scoring both Seaman and Witte to put UWL up 12-2. With two outs and the bases loaded, Campbell singled to center field which brought in the final run of the game as Rajkovich scored from third.

FROM THE BOX SCORE
   
Game One
  • Offensively, UWL finished with 10 runs on 13 hits and seven walks. 
  • VandenHeuvel drove in five runs as he finished 3-for-6 while Born drove in three as he was 3-for-5 with a home run and two runs scored.
  • Hargrove went 2-for-2 with two walks, three runs scored and an RBI.
  • Chayce Osterhaus (4-0) picked up his fourth win of the season on the mound as he allowed one run on seven hits while striking out five in 8.0 innings. 
  • The Titans scored five runs on nine hits and two walks. 
  • Surane finished 2-for 5 with two RBIs and a run scored while Stebane was 2-for-4 with a home run for the Titans.
 Game Two
  • UWL finished with 13 runs on 13 hits and eight walks in game two.
  • VandenHeuvel led the Eagles offense finishing 2-for-2 with two walks, two RBIs and one run scored while Born was 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored.
  • Also finishing with two hits was Rajkovich (2-for-4, two RBIs and two runs scored) and Vivian (2-for-4, two walks and a run scored.
  • AJ Curtis (2-0) earned the win on the mound for the Eagles as he allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out one in 5.0 innings. 
  • UW-Oshkosh scored two runs on eight hits and two walks.
  • Shiu led the Titans offense as he finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
