La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team captured the Ashton May Invitational Saturday afternoon at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
The Eagles finished with 120.0 team points while the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee was second with 100.0 and UW-Eau Claire third with 96.5. A total of nine teams competed.

Other top-six finishers in the field events included
Araceli De Leo Lopez second (12-10) in the pole vault.
Gabby Johnson was second (140-8) in the javelin throw while
Ella Puls was fourth (125-3). Puls also placed sixth (150-3) in the hammer throw.
The Eagles'
Maya Evans was third (18-11 ¼) and
Ashley Davies sixth (17-10 ¼) in the long jump on Saturday.
Mackenzey Kronberg placed third (37-8 ¾) in the triple jump.
Sydney Torgerson finished fourth (130-2) in the discus throw.
On the track,
Julie Yang recorded a pair of top-six finishes, placing second (12.18) in the 100-meter dash and fourth (25.41) in the 200-meter dash.
Anika Reiland finished fourth (12.22) in the 100-meter dash. In the 400-meter dash,
Macy Reybrock placed fourth (58.64) and
Alli Thomas sixth (59.23).
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase,
Julia Zalewski finished second (11:30.00),
Elizabeth Schwartz third (11:31.77) and
Bryn Sato fifth (11:35.80).
Sarah Grubbs, Thomas,
Brie Eckerman and Reiland were second (3:58.71) in the 4x400-meter relay.

The meet is named for former assistant women's track & field coach Ashton May, who passed away September 16, 2012 after a traffic accident north of Adams, Minnesota. She completed her second season as an assistant coach with the Eagles in 2011-12. May earned her degree from UWL in 2010 in elementary education and was a math and social studies teacher at Holmen (Wis.) Middle School. May will be inducted into the UWL Wall of Fame this fall.
A four-year track & field letter winner for the Eagles, she earned 10 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III All-America awards, including second-place finishes in the long jump and triple jump at the 2010 outdoor championships. May was also second in the long jump at the 2010 indoor national championships. She was inducted into the UWL Wall of Fame in 2022.
