Wyatt Magolski of
New London (H.S.) has been selected the 2024-25 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Wrestling Newcomer of the Year in a vote by the league coaches. The award is sponsored by Kwik Trip.
He is the second wrestler in school history to win the award, joining
Isaac Lahr who earned the honor in the inaugural year of the award in 2019-20.
Wyatt Magolski went 26-11 overall this season.
Magolski finished 26-11 at 133-pounds this season, recording 10 wins by fall. He earned his first career appearance at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Championships after placing third at the NCAA Division III Region VII Regional. Magolski went 4-1 at the regional championships and 0-2 at the national meet.
Earning All-WIAC Second Team honors with a second-place finish at the conference championship, Magolski went 2-1 at the meet.
He recorded four other top-five tournament finishes this season, including second at the Luther College (Iowa) Open and Cornell College (Iowa) Invitational. Magolski placed third at the Wheaton College (Ill.) Invitational and fifth at the Buena Vista University (Iowa) Open.
UWL placed fifth at the NCAA Division III Championships under head coach
Dave Malecek. The Eagles won their first NCAA Division III Regional title and captured their ninth straight WIAC Championship.
