UWL Extends Winning Streak to Three with Overtime Victory over Aurora; Schiltz Nets Game-Winner

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse lacrosse team extended its winning streak to three with an 11-10 overtime victory over Aurora University (Ill.) Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
 
The Eagles improve to 3-2 on the season while the Spartans drop to 2-5.
 
Megan Maloney recorded two goals and four
draw controls in the win.

Aurora (Ill.) took a 1-0 lead with 9:49 left in the first quarter on a Kielly Reeve goal. UWL responded with three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead after the first quarter. Megan Maloney had a pair of goals for the Eagles.
 
The Spartans took a 4-3 lead with the first three goals of the second quarter. Megan Feeney tied the game at 4-4 for the Eagles with 7:56 left in the first half before Evie Brilz gave UWL a 5-4 halftime lead with 6:44 remaining.
 
Caley Russell's goal to start the third quarter tied the game at 5-5 for Aurora (Ill.). Ava Schiltz scored three consecutive goals in the period for UWL to give the Eagles an 8-5 lead. After Aurora's (Ill.) Olivia Dahlberg cut the lead to 8-6 with 8:36 left, Schiltz tallied her fourth goal of the game with 1:49 remaining to make it 9-6. Reeve's goal with 1:14 left cut the lead to 9-7 after three quarters.
 
Aurora (Ill.) tied the game, 9-9, with goals from Russell and Brianna Peck to open the fourth quarter. Feeney's goal off an Schiltz assist with 6:03 remaining gave UWL a 10-9 lead. Peck forced overtime for the Spartans scoring with :36 left.
 
Schiltz scored the game-winning goal with 1:16 remaining in overtime off a Feeney assist. 
Megan Feeney had two goals and one assist.

 
UWL finished with 38 shots in the game with Schiltz recording 17. She totaled five goals and one assist. Maloney and Feeney each scored twice. Stefania Rossi earned the win, registering five saves.
 
Kaley Hendrick had a team-high five ground balls while Angie Olla had five draw controls.
 
Aurora (Ill.) totaled 18 shots. Peck led the Spartans with three goals while Reeve and Russell each had two. Rachel Wickey recorded 17 saves.
 
UWL returns to action Saturday, March 22 at Carroll University (Wis.) at 1 p.m.
