La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team completed action at two meets on Saturday. The Eagles competed at the University of Minnesota First Chance Meet Friday and Saturday at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center while also hosting the UWL Diving Invitational in the Richard L. Pein Natatorium.
No team scores were recorded at either meet.
Megann Jobin
In Friday's action at the University of Minnesota First Chance Meet,
Megann Jobin recorded UWL's top-showing, placing fourth (5:22.37) in the 500 freestyle. The Eagles'
Sofia Alf was fifth (5:24.73) with
Grace Gilleran 10th (5:29.63) and
Audrey Banske 23rd (5:42.57).
Hannah Wadholm had two 10th-place finishes on Friday, including the 50 freestyle (24.74) and 100 breaststroke (1:09.00).
Emily Hauke recorded a pair of top-15 individual finishes, ninth (1:08.28) in the 100 breaststroke and 15th (2:17.34) in the 200 I.M. UWL's
Ella Eck finished 16th (1:11.71) in the 100 breaststroke and 19th (2:20.16) in the 200 I.M.
Other top-25 finishes included
Ellie Brown 11th (24.83) in the 50 freestyle,
Riley Siegle 16th (2:18.66) in the 200 I.M. and
Liz Warns 21st (1:02.69) in the 100 butterfly.
UWL's top 400-medley relay finished fourth (4:10.63) with
Avary Calonder, Wadholm, Hauke and Brown.
Jobin led UWL on Saturday with a third-place finish (18:55.40) in the 1,650 freestyle while also recording a 11th-place finish (1:59.69) in the 200 freestyle.
Wadholm was fourth (53.96) in the 100 freestyle, 13th (2:37.79) in the 200 breaststroke and 17th (2:01.71) in the 200 freestyle on Saturday.
Hauke finished fourth (2:31.44) in the 200 breaststroke and ninth (5:01.23) in the 400 I.M.
Hannah Wadholm
Siegle recorded three top-20 finishes on Saturday for UWL, including seventh (4:56.07) in the 400 I.M., 19th (2:16.43) in the 200 backstroke and 20th (2:40.03) in the 200 breaststroke. The Eagles'
Grace Radke finished seventh (2:23.49) in the 200 butterfly.
Calonder, Alf and Mia Hayward each had a pair of top-20 finishes in Saturday's action. Calonder was 19th (1:01.39) in the 100 backstroke and 20th (2:16.54) in the 200 backstroke while Alf finished 14th (2:00.60) in the 200 freestyle and 16th (55.18) in the 100 freestyle. Hayward was 11th (2:26.76) in the 200 butterfly and 14th (5:18.24) in the 400 I.M.
The Eagles' Brown was 11th (54.82) and Warns 21st (55.97) in the 100 freestyle while Gilleran placed 18th (2:01.95) in the 200 freestyle and Banske 12th (19:57.88) in the 1,650 freestyle.
Eck placed 12th (2:36.57) in the 200 breaststroke while
JonaLee Feller finished 15th (1:00.06) in the 100 backstroke.
UWL's 400 freestyle relay of Alf, Jobin, Banske and Siegle finished seventh (3:48.62).
At the UWL Diving Invitational,
Joanne Banaszak captured the one-meter title (458.55 points) while
Hannah Martini won the three-meter (460.40). Banaszak was second (437.60) in the three-meter while Martini placed third (437.85) in the one-meter.
Banaszak set a pool record in winning the one-meter crown.
Madeline Weber
Madeline Weber placed second (440.75) in the one-meter competition on Saturday and fifth (388.75) in the three-meter. The Eagles' Abbey Thortnon finished third (397.45) in the three-meter and fifth (385.25) in the one-meter.
Madison DeBernardo was sixth in the three-meter (386.55) and seventh (355.65) in the one-meter with
Natalie Peterson finishing sixth (359.30) in the one-meter and ninth (336.15) in the three-meter.
UWL's
Eden Mortensen placed seventh (358.75) in the three-meter and eighth (346.45) in the one-meter.
Tessah Lang was 11th in the one (320.60) and three (312.10) meter.
UWL returns to action Wednesday, February 19 at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships in Brown Deer, Wisconsin.
