Men's Track and Field Hosts Mark Guthrie Legacy Invitational; Blaskowski Breaks Own National Record

La Crosse, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Men's Track and Field team hosted the Mark Guthrie Legacy Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Up next: The Eagles will compete in multiple track and field meets next weekend. On Friday, February 14th The Eagles will head to Mankato, MN to compete in the Mankato Maverick Premier. Then on Saturday, February 15th team members will travel to Whitewater, WI and Fayetteville, AR to compete in the Whitewater Midwest Elite and Tyson Invitational.

THE RESULTS

FIELD EVENTS

High Jump - Nathan Andringa placed second with a jump of 6-5 1/2.
Pole Vault - UWL had two of the top three finishers with Caleb Moore placing first with a vault of 15-11, while Andrew Tumminaro placed third with a jump of 15-5.
Long Jump - Trition Schmidt placed second with a jump of 23-2 ½, and Sebastian Jefferson finished third with a jump of 23-1 ¾.
Triple Jump - UWL captured the top three places in the triple jump with William Cady finishing first with a meet record of 47-3 while Gabe Olsen second with a jump of 47-1 ¾ and Carter Pearson third (46-10).
Shot Put - Ben Youngworth led the Eagles as he finished in second place with a throw of 54-10 3/4. Spencer Prats finished fourth (46-6).

TRACK EVENTS

60-meter hurdles - Aaron Poelma was the lone UWL runner in the final, finishing third with a time of 8.12.
60-meter dash - With a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III record time of 6.62, Sam Blaskowki won the 60-meter dash. Blaskowski breaks his own record of 6.64 which was set during the 2024 indoor season.
Mile - UWL had the top two finishers in the mile with Cael Schoemann finishing first with a meet record time of 4:08.15 while Jayden Zywicki was second with a time of 4:09.39.
400-meter - UWL had two of the top three finishers in the 400-meter run with Collin Conzemius finishing second with a time of 47.89 and Andrew Hackbarth finishing third with a time of 48.73.
800-meter - The Eagles secured two of the top three spots in the 800-meter run with Dirk Lueck winning the event with a time of 1:54.99 and Owen Klaus finishing third with a time of 1:56.43.
200-meter - Evan Maurud placed sixth for the Eagles with a time of 22.36.
3000-meter - UWL had the top three finishers in the 3000-meter run with Grant Matthai running a facility and meet record time of 8:06.92. Aidan Matthai finished second with a time of 8:11.32 while Adam Loesner finished third with a time of 8:11.72.
4x400 relay -The relay team of Jacob Hohmann, Conzemius, Devin Williams, and Hackbarth set a facility and meet record with a time of 3:14.06 to finish first.
